“All My Children” star Esta Terblanche dies at 51

“All My Children” star Esta TerBlanche died at age 51. In a statement released by Annie Spoliansky, Esta TerBlanche’s manager, she stated, “Esta Terblanche was such a kind, loving, giving, and caring person.” “She loved everyone and everything so very much. She loved taking care of her two cats, feeding and tending to her squirrels daily, and treating her recent babies like her own kids”. 

“I was fortunate to have known Esta Terblanche for the few times that I did, and I was saddened to hear of her loss. Esta Terblanche was always kind and giving to me.” On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Esta TerBlanche passed away suddenly, according to Barbie Ashley, her goddaughter, who reported to the news on July 21.

Tribute to Terblanche 

Lisa Rodrigo, Esta TerBlanche’s publicist, also paid tribute to the singer, saying, “I am devastated to hear about Esta’s passing. I shall miss her every day since she was and will always be a beautiful soul. She is not only a client, but also a friend, and I am honored to have known her.” It is unknown what caused the South African actress to pass away. Authorities suspect Esta TerBlanche had been dead for around a day when her body was discovered, according to a story by Deadline.

Lisa Rodrigo announced the news on Facebook. “It still amazes me that I am uploading this. With great sadness, I announce the natural causes of the death of my friend and customer Esta TerBlanche. There is an awaiting autopsy report. I’m still in shock and still processing.

The Origin of Esta TerBlanche’s Career 

Esta TerBlanche was born on January 7, 1973, in the province of North West, South Africa. After winning the title of Miss Teen South Africa in 1991, she acted as Bienkie Naudé Hartman in the hit drama Egoli. Place of Gold from 1992 to 1995. After leaving that program to pursue her acting career in the United States, she was cast in “All My Children” two years later.

Esta TerBlanche portrayed Dimitri Marick’s cousin, Gillian, a strong-willed Hungarian princess, on the soap opera. The character Ryan Lavery played by Cameron Mathison piqued her interest, and they eventually got married. Esta TerBlanche left the show in 2001 and went back to South Africa following Gillian’s passing.

After her character was shot in the series, her on-screen husband Ryan Lavery (Cameron Mathison) removed her from life support. She later returned to the show for one episode in 2011, playing Gillian’s ghost. 

Projects that Esta Terblanche Has Worked on 

Esta TerBlanche started a spa and collaborated with director Michael Kastenbaum on several projects. She served as a TV show host as well. TerBlanche has hosted TV programs, such as “Carte Blanche” and “Supermodel.”

She remarked, “Those documentaries were so amazing. I traveled a lot with them. We worked on projects that featured the largest snake in the world as well as intriguing items that were spectacular, terrifying, and wild. It was totally up my alley because there were a lot of animal topics.”

News Reports Before Her Death 

Before her death, Esta TerBlanche, who lives in the United States and South Africa, said she would like to return to the spotlight. She told the news, “It’s something I would like to get back into.” 

Esta TerBlanche was dividing her time between South Africa and California at the time of her death. She is survived by Barbie Ashley, her goddaughter, and her ex-husband.

Mathison honored his former co-star. He posted a picture from the soap opera on Instagram Stories along with the words, “RIP, my sweet princess,” and a broken heart emoji. In a more recent selfie that he posted, it was evident they remained in contact. “Last year, when Red, my dog, was ill and paralyzed and I was having a hard time, Esta TerBlanche helped me.” Among the kindest folks I’ve ever met,” Mathison wrote.

Was Esta TerBlanche Married? 

Esta TerBlanche was a native Afrikaans speaker who was also fluent in English, German, and to varied degrees French, Italian, and Russian.

André Kock and TerBlanche were wed from 1997 to 2008 when they were divorced. TerBlanche mentioned in an interview that she had recently filmed a pilot in South Africa and had started acting again.

She said that her time on All My Children was the best of her life and that she would be interested in acting in another soap opera or going back to the show. She appeared in a brief People magazine story honoring All My Children in 2011.

Esta TerBlanche Movies and TV Shows

Esta TerBlanche performed in several plays, including Pygmalion, Hear Ye, The Glass Menagerie, and Ten Times Worse on Friday. She was in the movie Three Thieves and a Wedding as well. 

In South Africa, Terblanche was also a TV host for the kids’ program K-T.V. and the environmental program 50/50. In South Africa, Terblanche was a well-known figure who frequently graced magazine covers.
