Trump Campaign Fundraising Email Claims He Was “Tortured” in Jail

According to a fundraising email, Donald Trump, the republican presidential candidate claimed to have been tortured during his time at the county jail in Georgia. Donald Trump’s campaign team sent an email criticizing how the former president was treated during photographs of his mug shot at the jail.

Trump has always had the idea of generating campaign donations with a picture of his mugshot. On Monday, June 24, 2025, an email was sent in which torture claims were issued. The message was sent as a promotional letter for the sale of Trump coffee mug shot cups.

In August 2023, Trump turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail following his criminal case request in Georgia. Trump is being charged with 13 counts of election fraud, which came from his efforts to overturn the 2020 election result.

When Trump arrived at the county jail, he did so in with a convoy rivaling a president. After his arrival, Trump was booked and had his fingerprint taken. Subsequently, Trump was taken for his now infamous mug shot.

The whole experience took a total of 20 minutes, making Trump the only U.S. president to have his mug shot taken. In May, Trump’s campaign sent out a similar email, which also contained global torture.

In the wake of his criminal charges, Trump has capitalized on them, using them as a business avenue to generate income. Trump has issued merchandise for his mug shots, ranging from T-shirts, mugs and koozies to bumper stickers. The stickers are noted to sometimes include the phrase “Never surrender.”

According to the Guardian, there were no reports that Trump had been mistreated or tortured during his visit to the prison. However, Trump supporters have viewed the resulting photo as a badge of honor.

In August 2023, Trump and 18 other individuals were charged for their alleged involvement in a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election. Although Trump continues to claim his innocence regarding the case, four out of the 18 have pleaded guilty to the allegations.

The Georgia criminal trial is one of Trump’s four criminal cases. In Georgia, he faces 13 counts in regard to his attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Trump lost the state to Joe Biden in 2020, which was crucial ground for Republicans.

In May 2024, Trump was declared guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his New York trial. This was regarding a hush money payment Trump had made to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
