In a heartbreaking incident, a 2-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being struck by a truck driven by a 3-year-old child in California. The devastating accident occurred at a gas station in Woodland over the weekend, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
According to authorities, the young girl was standing near a taco stand at the edge of the gas station parking lot when the incident took place. Woodland police responded to the scene shortly before 4 p.m. local time, where they found the toddler had been hit and sustained critical injuries.
Despite being rushed to the hospital by family members, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The owner of the truck involved in the incident was identified by officers at the scene.
It was reported that a 3-year-old child was in the backseat of the truck in a car seat. When the owner entered the gas station store, the child managed to exit the car seat and climbed into the driver’s seat, inadvertently setting the vehicle in motion.

Tragically, the truck collided with the 2-year-old girl, resulting in the fatal accident. The young victim was identified as Ailahni Sanchez Martinez, remembered fondly by her family as a joyful and vibrant child who was just one month away from her third birthday. Her mother, Rosa Martinez, expressed her devastation, recalling her daughter’s love for dancing and bringing happiness to their lives.
“She was always happy, loved to dance, and brought joy to the family,” her mother, Rosa Martinez, told NBC affiliate KCRA of Sacramento, noting that Ailahni was one month away from her third birthday.

Ailahni’s family was setting up their taco stand when they saw the truck moving backward toward her. “I heard a scream and ran because I saw it going toward my daughter, but it was too late,” her father, Sandro Sanchez, said.
He said, “What happened is not right,” adding, “We want justice… I lost my daughter because of someone else.”
An online fundraiser to aid with the family’s expenses has been set up.

“Everyone involved has cooperated in this investigation,” police said.
No arrests have been made in the case, but the investigation is ongoing. When it’s completed, the case will be forwarded to the local district attorney’s Office for review.
