She rose to fame during the 1990s, starring in the ABC and Warner Bros. hit series “Sister Sister.” The actress who is a twin, starred in the series with her twin sister Tia. Unsurprisingly, since her debut in the industry, she has only gone from strength to strength.
Early Life
Tamera Mowry was born on July 6, 1978 in Gelnhausen, Germany. She was born to biracial parents. Her mother, Darlene Mowry, is of Afro-Bahamian descent, while her father, Timothy John Mowry, is English.
Tamera, a twin, is two minutes older than her twin sister Tia. However, the sisters both developed a passion for acting very young. They were also very talented, and both knew they would make it as actors.
The twins convinced their parents of their dreams, and in 1990 the family moved from Germany to Los Angeles. Tamera and Tia started their career by contesting in pageants and talent shows. Producers quickly noticed the twins, and they soon started landing minor television roles.

Tamera made her first television appearance in the series “Flesh ‘n Blood” as the character Penelope. The “Sister, Sister” opportunity came about after a producer spotted the twins on the set of “Full House.” ABC network aired “Sister, Sister” during its early run. Tamera is currently married to her husband, Adam Housley. The pair exchanged marital vows in May 2011. The latter is a one-time professional baseball player who represented Milwaukee Brewers and the Detroit Tigers minor league organizations.
Adam transitioned into journalism and has since become a very recognized journalist. He worked as a correspondent on “Fox News” before leaving in 2018.
Tamera and Adam reportedly met after a professor at Pepperdine University, Robert Sexton, set them up. The journalist saw her picture among those of the professor’s favorite students.
Although Tamera resisted his advances at first, she eventually fell for Adam. They welcomed their first child, Aden John Tanner Housely, on November 12, 2012. The family expanded when daughter Raiah Talea Housely arrived on July 1, 2015.

In 2020 Tamera announced she was leaving her role as the host of “The Real” after seven years. The announcement arrived a couple of weeks after the actress lost her close friend Naya Rivera although it had nothing to do with her decision.
In the Instagram post that she released to announce her departure, Tamera listed her achievements hosting the show, including the two NAACP Image Awards and a Daytime Emmy. The talented actress also thanked her viewers and her co-hosts for the beautiful times they spent working together.
Months after leaving the reality show, Tamera announced she had signed a new deal to expand her relationship with Crown Media Family Networks. The deal will see her star in and produce movies for the network.
