Zendaya Has Featured in Lots of Movies — a Look into Some of Her Best and Not so Good Works

Actress Zendaya Maree Coleman has experienced a tremendous rise since delving into showbiz. At just twenty-four, the iconic Hollywood star has numerous movie credits in her name.

Finding a niche that suited her was one of actress Zendaya Coleman’s remarkable feats through her in the last 24 years. Also, making the list of Zendaya’s most significant accomplishments is the icon’s numerous movies since her foray into a life of stardom.

Undoubtedly, not all movies by Zendaya attained the pass mark or became global hits, but that seldom resulted from bad acting. Maimed scripting, flawed productions, and unflattering characters have contributed to some of her worst works.

Growing up in California and attending the Oakland School for the Arts, Zendaya Coleman had an early start in entertainment. Additionally, she nurtured her interests in music, dance, and cloth-designing over the years while attaining stardom as an actress.

In the course of her career, here are some of the good and the not-so-thrilling spotlight moments the young actress has encountered, on a scale of 10.

PLAYING MJ IN “SPIDERMAN: FAR FROM HOME” ꟷ 9.5

Zendaya’s superhero flick, “Spiderman: Far From Home,” remains one of her most iconic movies. Starring as MJ, Spiderman’s teenage love interest, the 24-year-old actress earned high ratings from viewers.

On a scale of ten, Zendaya scored 9.5, which passes as an excellent score even for a world-famous actress.  The Marvel movie followed Peter Parker and his high school friends as they take a field trip around Europe. In a slight twist, MJ (played by Zendaya) tried to confirm her suspicions about the teenage superhero’s identity.

If her role as MJ in the above sequel made the list, it is not far-fetched to have Zendaya’s role in the critically acclaimed prequel, “Spiderman: Homecoming” following closely. 

The 24-year old’s first foray into the Marvel superhero flick was in the 2017 film, “Spiderman: Homecoming.” Despite being a first timer in the fictional world of heroes, mutants, and villains, the MJ roleplayer rendered the part remarkably well. Her flawless rendition earned her an 87% rating from critics.

ZENDAYA’S ROLE AS RUE BENNETT IN “EUPHORIA” ꟷ8.3

Not many appreciated the movie, “Euphoria” after its release, but having Zendaya deviate from her usual calm, collected good-girl routine was certainly worth something. 

The HBO movie features the young actress as Rue Bennett, a high schooler who embraced a life of sex, violence, and drugs. It scores 83 percent on the rating scale based on viewers’ opinions.

ANNE IN “THE GREATEST SHOWMAN” ꟷ 8.6

The 2017 hit, “The Greatest Showman,” availed Zendaya the opportunity to flaunt not only her acting prowess but also her singing skills. As Anne, a touring circus acrobat, dancer, and singer, Zendaya proved herself more than just a pretty face. Starring alongside Zac Efron was a plus. Little wonder she scored a whopping 86% for her role in the musical.

APPEARING IN AN EPISODE OF “BLACK-ISH” AS RESHEIDA ꟷ 7.2

It was just an episode, but Zendaya captured the audience with her performance in the “Black-Ish” episode titled “Daddy’s Day.”

Not only was her character, Rasheida, able to successfully make Zoe (Yara Shahidi) rethink her stance on partaking in her dad’s undertakings; she also managed to convince the world that fathers do matter after all.

“K.C UNDERCOVER” AS K.C COOPER ꟷ 6.1

Following her flawless roleplaying in her first-ever Disney movie, “Shake It Up,” Zendaya snagged a part in another Disney series. She played K.C Cooper, a teenage mathematics genius in the series, “K.C. Undercover.”

She starred in the series from 2015 to 2018, living her best life as the nerdy high schooler during the day and a spy by night.

ZENDAYA VOICED THE TEENAGE MEECHEE IN “SMALLFOOT” ꟷ 6.2

The entertainment icon has also tried her hands on voice acting and excelled at it. Her most remarkable voice acting part was in the 2018 animated movie, “Smallfoot.”

“Smallfoot” followed the life of a Yeti, Migo, who discovered the existence of humans and tried to convince his community. Zendaya voiced Meechee’s character, a beautiful, purple-haired teen Yeti who happened to be Migo’s love interest.

The animation was an instant hit with its star-studded cast line up, earning it a high rating in the box office. Appearing in the animation, therefore, earned Zendaya a rating of 6.2.

VOICING THE CHARACTER, LOLLIPOP IN “SUPER BUDDIES” ꟷ 4.6

Another trial on voice acting Zendaya did was in the 2013 Disney film, “Air Buddies.” The series was about a group of superhero pops who acquire their powers from magical rings. The actress voiced the character of the tiny-voiced pony, Lollipop.

The film generally received unpleasant reviews from viewers who tagged it as “not worthwhile.” As a result, despite Zendaya’s perfect rendition, it ranks as one of her worst movies, with a 46% rating.

ZOEY STEVENS IN “ZAPPED” ꟷ 4.4

Another circumstantial bad movie moment for the actress, “Zapped,” followed the life of a teenage girl who stumbled upon a mystical app. The app could mysteriously allow the songstress to control all the boys in her life.

Playing the lead character, Zoey Stevens, the 24-year-old earned a nod for Young Artist Award. However, the negative reviews from viewers who termed the movie as sexist somehow shrouded Zendaya’s well-deserved glory.

“FRENEMIES” FEATURED ZENDAYA AS HALLEY ꟷ 4.3

In the 2012 teen comedy, “Frenemies,” Zendaya landed a role as Halley, a high school student running a web magazine alongside her friend, Avalon.

Critics deemed the Disney Channel teen comedy “cliché” and “Superficial” despite its fun and kid-friendly plot. Notwithstanding, the young actress managed to acquire a 43% rating for her portrayal of Halley.
