California rapper YG was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Police handcuffed the rapper after discovering him standing outside his car, which he is accused of driving over a curb.
The Burbank City Jail verified to PEOPLE that YG, real name Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, was detained for misdemeanor DUI on October 1. Multiple outlets claim police stated that the rapper was handcuffed after officials caught him standing outside his car.
“We will contest the allegations, and they are just that — allegations,” YG’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, told PEOPLE when asked for commentary. YG was previously jailed in 2020 for robbery just days preceding his Grammy Awards appearance.
He was also charged in the 2018 robbery at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, in which a man’s necklace was stolen. Both charges were dismissed in 2022, with YG reaching a settlement with the later victim outside of court.

YG is currently single. The rapper has had some notable romances in the past. One of his most well-known partnerships was with singer Kehlani. They made their romance public in 2019, however it only lasted until early 2020.

Despite the unpleasant scenario, no physical abuse was recorded, and authorities were able to calm both parties down. After leaving the area, a noncriminal report was taken.
