It is hard to imagine that Kelsy Ully and Jonathan Scott knew each other before they became famous. They had been friends before Scott became a star. Back in Canada, Scott worked in real estate and was also known as a professional magician who entertained with illusions. But in 2011, he and his twin brother Drew found a rare opportunity to star in the now-successful Property Brothers franchise.
On the other hand, Kelsy Ully was an airline crew scheduler. She worked with WestJet. But she later transitioned into modeling after moving to Las Vegas and worked as a waitress at a gay club in the city.
Not long after, Ully found a work opportunity as a project manager at Scott Real Estate. Then she moved to Cascade Process Control, where she worked for another two years. At the peak of her career in the US, she was the Director of Business Operations at Impel Systems.
Ully was well-favored and got an honors degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She also studied at Mount Royal University in Canada. But things started to take a different turn for her when she married Scott, and many believe that America changed her.
What Happened Between Kelsy Ully and Jonathan Scott?
Jonathan Scott has taken different opportunities to explain what happened with his marriage. He was left heartbroken when Ully, whom he had met around 2007, began to change suddenly. According to him, Ully had a strict timetable for how she wanted their relationship to progress. So the idea of marriage was hers.
He told People in a 2017 interview, “We were young, and there was a rush going into it. She wanted to get married on July 7, 2007, so it didn’t naturally happen.” Following their marriage, Kelsy Ully and Jonathan Scott spent two years together before separating in 2009.
However, their divorce proceedings were extended an additional three years due to ongoing disputes concerning their legal separation agreement. Ully claimed she had signed the document under duress and harassment, but the court ultimately upheld its contents. The extended duration of the court case was warranted to address these disagreements and ensure a fair resolution.
In his memoir, It Takes Two: Our Story, Scott alleged Ully’s work as a model at a day club contributed to their failed marriage. He narrated how he found out from Facebook that she had deleted all traces of him from her page and changed her relationship status from married to blank.
“My wife was out every night, coming home later and later,” he wrote. “She had a subset of friends I barely knew now, and I was rarely invited to join them. Work seemed to be putting more and more distance between us.”

Scott and Ully’s split was considered a tragedy because it happened when they were becoming famous in the US. It is also believed that the HGTV star was worst hit by the separation because he moved to the US for Ully’s sake.
Reacting to the split in his memoir, Scott said, “The split isn’t something I dwell on anymore, but for one too-long, too-dark period in my life, that’s practically all I did. It shook me right to my core.”
While his marriage’s failure was excruciating at the time, Scott says it’s ultimately taught him a lot about life and love. He wrote, “Anyone in a long-term relationship knows how hard that is. After that, I felt defeated, but I learned a lot.”

Following their divorce, Ully reportedly returned to Canada for a quiet lifestyle. Not much is known about her today. However, based on her Instagram account, she appears to enjoy traveling.
At the other end of the split, Jonathan Scott has repeatedly dated again. First, it was Jacinta Kuznetsov, a television producer, but presently, it is actress Zooey Deschanel.
