The internet sharing of viral clips purporting to show President Joe Biden’s mental decline has infuriated the White House. This was represented by press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. 

Jean-Pierre claimed the videos demonstrated Republicans’ eagerness to unseat Joe Biden in November. Also, she accused them of being produced with bias and in “bad faith.”

The White House has released a statement of worry and disappointment after learning of the latest viral video criticizing President Joe Biden’s recent mental deterioration. 

The White House has denied accusations of President Biden’s cognitive deterioration stating that the video in question was either misconstrued or exaggerated.

The latest instance of a video of Biden becoming viral due to purportedly poor mental acuity occurred over the weekend. 

While on stage alongside former president Barrack Obama, Biden is seen in the video to “freeze up.” Biden is then led off stage by Obama, who takes him by the hand.

Jean-Pierre stated in the clip, “Instead of talking about the president’s performance in office. By that I mean his legislative wins we are seeing these deep fakes and manipulated videos.”

The fight for or against the idea of President Biden being assessed for his mental fitness has showcased the levels of polarization in the United States of America’s political system.

Americans Are Not Confident in Biden’s Mental State 

Ahead of the election, voters are considering the mental health of the current crop of presidential contenders, given their advancing age. The rival, Donald Trump, is 78 years old, and Joe Biden is 81 years old.

In an AP-NORC poll conducted in March 2024, one in every two people surveyed reported that they were either not very or not at all confident in Biden’s mental fitness to lead the country as the president.

Trump’s Reaction to the Viral Video 

Donald Trump did not miss this viral moment or the chance to poke fun at his presidential challenger. Also, Trump increased the clip’s visibility to his followers in a Truth Social post. 

“Is your desire for a President truly this person?” Trump wrote above the now-viral Obama-Biden video. Also, a Truth Social user responded, saying, “The “shadow President” has to help the Resident off stage.”

There is now a heated debate on the internet about whether or not Biden’s mental acuity is impaired in these clips. Biden’s allies claim that the conservative leaders and media organizations have deliberately sought to distort the videos.

They also view mainstream media’s attempt to ‘tidy up’ things while reporting a new viral video of Biden as forming part of the false narrative. Considering the growing intensity of the pressure and the growing stakes for each political organization before election day. It also seems that the struggle to depict the opposition as mentally ill will continue.
