Prince Harry’s marriage has been the focus of media discussion for several years now. He and his wife, Meghan Markle, are one of the most controversial couples in the world right now, and this has exposed them to harmful speculation and rumors.
However, the Prince, no stranger to the paparazzi, knows when to step in to shut them down before they become bigger issues. He did that recently when he dismissed speculation that his marriage to Markle was in trouble because they attended events separately. Here’s all the Prince had to say.
Prince Harry’s Marriage Is Doing Just Fine
Rumors may make it seem like Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle is finally showing evidence of wear and tear after years of media bashing and bullying, but he says that is far from the truth.
During an appearance at the New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit Wednesday, Harry stated that the constant attention on his marriage is “definitely not a good thing.” “Apparently, we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times,” he said while at the event. “We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?’”

Harry is used to the media frenzy but noted that he feels “sorry” for the online trolls invested in his marriage to the actress.
“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls,” Harry said. “Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.”
Harry Believes the Rumors Could Be Harmful Over Time
During his interview, Harry stressed that online rumors, like those targeting his marriage, can be “dangerous” over time. “I’ve seen stories written about myself that aren’t exactly based on reality. I’ve seen stories about members of my family, friends, strangers, all sorts of people,” Harry said.
“And I think when you grow up within that environment, you do find yourself questioning the validity of the information. But also what other people are thinking of that as well, and how dangerous it can be over the course of time.”
This is because the media tends to distort information about him in an effort to deliver sensational news pieces. The father of two even apologized to NYT columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin, who was interviewing him, for how he might face similar treatment following their conversation.
Harry said the interview “will be spun or twisted somehow against me, and maybe you yourself will be trolled relentlessly.” “For that, I can only apologize, but you did invite me, so it’s not my fault,” he joked.
