Tyler Perry has heard how insurance companies canceled “millions of policies” ahead of the LA fires and is not happy about it. The LA fires is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest disasters as it has claimed both lives and properties.
Reports claim that multiple insurance companies, like State Farm General Insurance and Chubb Insurance, refused to renew policies for high-value properties in fire-risk areas. Allstate also discontinued its policies, while Tokio Marine America Insurance Co. and Trans-Pacific Insurance Co. stopped providing policies in California.
Mercury Insurance has made itself available to take the companies’ former customers. However, as people continue to deal with the fallout from the fires, more celebrities like Perry have voiced out, calling out not only insurance companies but also the LA fire department for doing a substandard job.
Tyler Perry’s Comment on the LA Fires

“As I am in the process of trying to figure out what steps to take to do all I can to help as many as I can. I am keeping everyone in my prayers,” he said. The actor-director shared his support as numerous LA residents — many without insurance coverage — have lost their homes in the devastating Palisades and Eaton wildfires authorities are still fighting to control across the city.
“Does anyone else find it appalling that insurance companies can take billions of dollars out of communities for years and then, all of a sudden, be allowed to cancel millions of policies for the very people they became rich on?” he wrote.
Perry said he was trying to figure out the best way to help those impacted by the fires. According to Cal Fire, the Palisades Fire has burned nearly 24,000 acres as of Sunday. Meanwhile, the Eaton Fire in northeast Los Angeles has scorched more than 14,000 acres.
Does Tyler Perry Have a House in LA?
Yes, the movie mogul owns a $15 million mega-mansion in the Beverly Ridge Estate of LA. The luxurious edifice once housed Harry and Meghan in the early days of their migration to America.
In episode six of the couple’s eye-opening Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan,” there is a moment with Perry where he reveals that he and the Sussexes had never met prior to him making the offer. Further proof of his famed magnanimity.
The mansion was built in 2012 over 24,500 square feet. Over the years, fans have gotten several glimpses into the property from posts Tyler Perry shared while living in it. Posts have shown living rooms with high ceilings and enormous leather sofas, a kitchen with a wolf oven, a study with a traditional fireplace and marble plinths and arches connecting different home areas.
Was Tyler Perry’s LA House Affected by the LA Fires?
According to reports, Tyler Perry’s LA house in Pacific Palisades was not affected by the devastating Los Angeles fires. Unfortunately, many other LA residents can not say the same, and they have no idea where to start because the insurance companies that should have supported them in getting back on their feet have grown too “greedy,” as Perry put it.
Last week, more than 100,000 of these residents, including celebrities, were forced to evacuate their homes due to the wildfires. Some stars that have lost their homes to the fires include Paris Hilton, Miles Teller, Adam Brody, and Eugene Levy. Meanwhile, stars like Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Angelina Jolie have stepped up to support those in need.
