The chart gives detailed information on how many illegal immigrants are coming into the country. Trump told the crowd how proud he was of the chart, pointing out the difference in illegal crossings under his administration. Around 6:15 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024, numerous gunshots were heard while Trump was giving his speech. Trump had turned right to look at the chart when a bullet ricocheted off him, tearing the upper part of his right ear. This was confirmed by Trump, who posted a statement confirming the incident involving his shooting.
After Trump was shot, he fell to the floor, grabbing his ear, following Secret Service instructions. Subsequently, the agents rush to the stage to protect the president by forming a shield around him. However, while the agents were trying to safeguard Trump, subsequent gunshots were heard from rally participants.
Trump’s Rally Victims
Trump was injured in the attack that killed firefighter Corey Comperatore and injured David Dutch and James Copenhaver. During his speech on Thursday, July 18, 2024, Trump also paid honor to them, referring to the injured guys as great heroes. Trump said that sadly the attempt resulted in the death of a true American hero, Corey Comperatore, and injuring of two great warriors.
Additionally, Trump said that he spoke to all three victims’ families, saying that the Republican Party is sending its love and prayers to them. Trump stated that Comperatore was a highly respected former fire chief. Comperatore had attended Trump’s rally accompanied by his wife, Helen, and two daughters. Comperatore got shot while ensuring the life and safety of his family.
Apart from Comperatore, two other people were injured in the rally shootout. The two victims have been identified as 57-year-old David Dutch and 74-year-old James Copenhaver. Dutch resides in New Kensington, while Copenhaver resides in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. According to Pennsylvania State Police on Sunday, July 14, 2024, the two victims have been stabilized and are now responding to treatment. Dutch and Copenhaver were transferred to Allegheny General Hospital after they were injured, with hospital officials confirming their recovery.
