In the spirit of the new year and new beginnings, Lil Wayne and Travis Kelce are making amends. On Wednesday, January 22, 2024, Travis and his brother Jason Kelce reacted to Lil Wayne’s negative response to the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent victory.
The brothers discussed their response to the rapper’s comment after their recent playoff game on their New Heights podcast. Speaking on the podcast, Jason said, “The whole world was talking about something else during the game, and I’m sure you saw some of this, but they were complaining about the refs again, Trav.”
Their recent statement comes in the aftermath of the backlash from fans and even players against the calls made in the Chiefs’ most recent AFC division game. During the game, Travis was particularly noticed following his contribution to the Chiefs’ triumph with seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown.
In previous interviews, Patrick Mahomes has commended Travis for his postseason performance. The Chief’s quarterback said, “He doesn’t let the moment be bigger than what it is,” Mahomes said. “He just goes out there and executes at a high level, just like he does in the regular season. He just does that at a little bit higher intensity in the playoffs.”
