The royal ladies of the British royal family have stepped out many times, taking fashion standards a notch higher. A good number of times, they gleaned evergreen fashion pieces from Queen Elizabeth’s jewelry collection.
Queen Elizabeth has a collection of jewelry that has piled up over the years, signifying many historical moments during her reign. Some of this jewelry was passed down to her from ancient fashion icons in the British empire.
Thanks to these extensive collections of gems, many royal women born years later have been able to get fashion inspiration from these pieces and also borrow them for special occasions. Here is a look through the times, female royal members have stepped out in pieces from the timeless collection.
Cartier Halo Tiara
The Cartier Halo Tiara dates back to the early 1900s. Princess Margaret wore it in 1956 during her tour in Zanzibar. Princess Anne has also sported it on several occasions. The most recent sighting of the tiara was on Kate Middleton at her 2011 royal wedding.
Queen Mary’s Diamond Fringe Tiara
Princess Beatrice looked breathtaking last year when she tied the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. She stunned in a vintage ivory taffeta wedding dress by Norman Hartnell, and her Tiara was a borrowed piece from her grandmother, the Queen.
The tiara does ring a bell because Queen Elizabeth wore it for her 1947 wedding to Prince Philip. At the time, it was loaned to her by the Queen Mother. The piece holds a lovely string of memories because Princess Anne also stepped out in it for her nuptials.
Pearl and Diamond Necklace
The Queen added the pearl and diamond necklace to her priceless collection in 1967, when King Faisal of Arabia gifted it to her. The late Princess Diana wore it in 1983, on a trip to Australia.
The Greville tiara is part of the collection that the Queen Mother received, and she rocked it in 1954. These days, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, seems to fancy it, and she has donned it on several occasions.
Greville Emerald Tiara
The Greville emerald tiara was recently seen on Princess Eugenie, and she had stepped out in it on her wedding day to Jack Brooksbank. The tiara is from the Greville collection. The collection was given to the Queen Mother by a wealthy woman called Mrs. Greville.
Queen Mary Bandeau
The bandeau initially belonged Queen Mary and was passed on to Queen Elizabeth after her demise in 1953. The center jewel of the Tiara was originally a brooch, but it was modified and embedded into the bandeau.
Meghan Markle sported the bandeau on her wedding day in 2018. Before then, it was rumored that Markle was not allowed to borrow the Queen’s pieces, but her wedding negated the hearsays.
Lover’s Knot Tiara
This ageless piece of jewelry has been seen on Middleton several times, but before she became privy to it, Princess Diana had it as a permanent loan. Queen Mary became the owner in 1913, and it was made based on a tiara owned by her grandmother.
The Nizam of Hyderabad Rose Necklace.
The rose necklace was a gift from the Nizam of Hyderabad during Queen Elizabeth’s wedding. Middleton has rocked it a few times.
