According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, award-winning actor Earl Holliman has passed away at the age of 96. The outlet revealed that Holliman died on Monday, November 25, 2024, as confirmed by Holliman’s partner, Craig Curtis.
Holliman found success in the film industry following the success of his debut film, “Scared Stiff,” in 1953. Following his debut success in 1953, he featured in several popular Westerns and dramas during the 1950s and 1960s.
Holliman, a passionate animal rights activist, served as president of Actors and Others for Animals for over three decades. According to Curtis, Holliman passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, while receiving hospice care at his Studio City home in California. Holliman’s niece, Theresa Mullins Harris, took to her Facebook page to confirm the actor’s sad passing.

According to Theresa, Holliman had passed away following a short illness. Captioning her Facebook post, she wrote, “He had a long, wonderful life. His dream at 5-years-old of becoming a movie star came true, more than he ever could have imagined. He loved hearing all the good things his fans had to say about him. He will be missed by all.”
Earl Holliman was born on September 11, 1928, in Delhi, Louisiana, where Henry Holliman, an oil field laborer, adopted him. The actor was raised in Oil City, Louisiana, by Henry before joining the Navy in 1943 at the age of 15. During the Second World War, Holliman was assigned to a Navy communications school in Los Angeles, where he met and socialized with celebrities.
However, he was dismissed in 1944, but he re-enlisted after graduating high school. Following his decision to study acting, Holliman attended the Pasadena Playhouse and the University of California, Los Angeles.

Holliman got his first acting job in 1952 after sneaking into the Paramount lot, where he met Paul Nathan, Hall Wallis’ assistant producer.
At the time of his meeting with Nathan, Earl Holliman was working at North American Aviation. In 1956, Holliman won the supporting role in Burt Lancaster and Katharine Hepburn’s “The Rainmaker” over Elvis Presley.
His portrayal of Jim Curry in “The Rainmaker” earned him the 1956 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. Later, in 1956, Holliman was cast alongside Walter Pidgeon and Leslie Nielsen in the science fiction blockbuster “Forbidden Planet.”
