Rihanna’s karaoke at the Girls Love Karaoke event in New York City on Sunday, December 29, got her roasted on social media. There were videos of what looked like a casual attempt at singing, and the audience was not impressed.
Many users made jokes about it on X, drawing attention to her voice. “The mic was bleeding,” one user wrote. “Help, this is horrible,” another echoed. “My cat can sing better,” a third confessed.
Anybody who entered the conversation would not quickly realize the users were trolling a Grammy winner. But if Rihanna’s karaoke was really as bad as they say it was, their annoyance may be understandable.
The superstar has an excellent history as a singer, but it has been a while since she took a step back from her musical obligations. Instead, she has been busy upscaling her other ventures, including her Fenty Brand. Rihanna’s karaoke performance has led to speculations about her career, and fans have been asking if the hitmaker can actually sing. Here’s all we know.

Does Rihanna Have a Good Voice?
Rihanna’s karaoke performance may have cast doubt on her talent. Still, the fashion mogul’s voice was often praised for its unique timbre and emotive quality, which set her apart from other singers. According to various sources, Rihanna’s vocal range and power have only improved over time, particularly peaking around the time of her ‘Anti’ album.
So, does Rihanna have a good voice? It depends on who you ask. If the question goes to someone who heard her karaoke performance recently, though, they are not likely to score her well.
Has Rihanna Lost Her Voice?
Rihanna’s karaoke performance may not have pleased those who heard it, but it does not mean she has lost her voice. Like many other skills humans possess, musical abilities can also fade over time, and when you consider the fact that the Fenty founder has not been using her singing muscles for quite some time, it is not surprising they are rusty.
While many users dug into her for the seemingly woeful performance, some defended her by highlighting how she has not had a lot of practice in recent times.
Is Rihanna Ending Her Music Career?
In the past, Rihanna often denied that she had outrightly retired from music. However, something has changed in recent times that makes it seem like she’s ready to let go. In a video she posted on X, which was filmed at a Fenty Beauty event in Barbados on Thursday, November 7, Rihanna said something about her career that implied she’s closing that chapter of her life.
“I always say music was the thing that got the attention. But God had other plans for me,” she told the crowd. “I was able to create in other ways that were very sincere, genuine, organic, and authentic to the things that I love, so it doesn’t even feel like a job,” Rihanna explained.
“But when you bring it home, I can express to you guys what this day means for me to be able to celebrate with the people that deserve it the most.”
Can Rihanna Sing?
Yes, Rihanna has great singing talent which she used to serenade the public for many years as a singer. However, she has stepped back from her musical career to find other “genuine” ways to create.

In August 2021, she was officially declared a billionaire, with Forbes predicting the singer was worth a whopping $1.7 billion. At the time, most of Rihanna’s fortune came from her 50% ownership of Fenty Beauty.
Her other endeavors sustained the remaining portion, including a lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, and her impressive music career.
