Taylor Swift will be taking on another crucial role: godmother! The 34-year-old “Fortnight” singer posted a beautiful Instagram Story on Thursday, July 25. This was in commemoration of her “best friend” Ryan Reynolds’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” which was released on Friday, July 26.
Swift disclosed in the caption of the image that she was taking on an additional duty as godmother to Reynolds and Blake Lively’s children. “Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my god kids’ sperm donor!” Swift wrote, referencing Reynolds’ Deadpool’s character.
Taylor Swift Is Well-admired
Lively and Reynolds have four children: daughters James (9), Inez (7), and Betty (4), as well as an additional kid called Olin, who was born in February 2023. They have not disclosed the gender of their youngster. Swift is also godmother to her close friend Jaime King’s nine-year-old kid Leo Thames. King previously spoke with PEOPLE about choosing to make Taylor Swift Leo Thames’ godmother.

Reynolds and Lively’s girls had a special mention in May, when the It Ends With Us actress took her three older children to watch Swift’s Eras tour in Madrid, Spain. Lively and her children, who were watching Swift’s concert from the stage, were seen leaping up and down and swaying along while she sang “Shake It Off.”
Eventually in the performance, Swift acknowledged Lively’s children in the crowd. On stage, the musician turned on her guitar and remarked, “I have to say that on Folklore, some of my favorite characters are named James, Inez, and Betty.” Swift was referring to her album Folklore, which included the song “Betty,” which contains the given names of each of Lively’s older children.
A Wholesome Relationship
When Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb asked Reynolds about the his fourth child’s name earlier that month, he responded wittingly during his appearance on the Today show. Guthrie exclaimed, “Taylor Swift keeps dropping it into lyrics!” in reference to Swift’s track “Betty”.
Following Guthrie’s inquiry about the new baby’s name being mentioned on Swift’s latest album The Tortured Poets Department, Reynolds responded with a joke, saying, “We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name is, and I’ll say this: We’re still waiting.” In an August 2021 SiriusXM Town Hall interview, Reynolds claimed that he and Lively had kept their girls’ names a secret from them until the song “Betty” was completed. “We surprised them with it.

During an appearance on Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show in November 2022, Reynolds spoke about his daughters, stating that they first underestimated Swift’s stardom. (He joked that they might have mistaken her for the incredibly expensive nanny.)
