As we approach the hottest part of summer, questions about staying clean and fresh despite the heat have left people searching for strategies. According to dermatologists, the most simple personal hygiene practices can make a great difference when preparing for summer activities.

To ensure a perfect summer devoid of poor personal hygiene, Fox News Digital reached out to Olga Skydan, a certified cosmetologist and dermatologist who works with the face yoga app Luvly and is New York-based. To feel refreshed throughout the summer of 2024, here are some of Skydan’s go-to hygiene tips.

Olga Skydan’s Hygiene Hacks

Skydan, to ensure a fresh summer, recommended some personal hygiene practices that cover skin and hair maintenance as well as sleep routines and fragrances. According to Skydan, one way a person can maintain personal hygiene is by opting for silk pillowcases instead of cotton.

According to his email, this simple lifestyle change can keep the skin looking young and the hair shiny and smooth. Skydan said, “Because of its hypoallergenic features, the silk pillowcase reduces skin creases, hair tangling, and the emergence of facial rashes after sleep.”

However, according to Dr. Fayne Frey, a dermatologist in West Nyack, New York, although silk pillowcases may be beneficial for the skin, the benefit hasn’t been proven yet.

Dr. Frey said, “There is no evidence that sleeping on a silk pillowcase minimizes acne breakouts, minimizes the formation of facial wrinkles, or prevents split ends or chemical exposure.

Additionally, Frey suggested washing the underarms and feet with benzoyl peroxide, as it helps decrease surface bacteria and minimize body odor. Subsequently, Skydan suggested applying petroleum jelly to the skin before applying perfume or cologne.

Skydan stated that prior application of the jelly helps to extend the longevity of perfume or cologne. For individuals who sweat a lot, Skydan recommends utilizing antiperspirant wipes as a way to help stay dry.

What Are the Five Importance of Hygiene?

It is important to practice good personal hygiene for a variety of reasons, including psychological, social, health, and basic lifestyle ones. Maintaining proper hygiene practices can help stop the emergence and spread of diseases, infections, and offensive odors.

Numerous contemporary media platforms, including fashion, TV, movies, magazines, and the internet, promote a particular body image as “expected” or “accepted.” This is especially true for young children and teenagers, for whom physical appearance is the most important criterion for both judgmental and nonjudgmental behavior.

The majority of individuals detest being discussed, especially negatively increasing the likelihood of wanting to project a favorable body image. It is imperative to wash your hands because doing so can help ward off a host of diseases and conditions.

People feel more confident when they are well-groomed, especially in social settings. Good hygiene can change our chances of success in social situations, at work, or even with people of the opposite sex.

What Are Signs of Bad Hygiene?

Personal hygiene is essentially taking care of your teeth, nails, hair, and body. It also includes items of clothing you wear and cleaning and grooming supplies you utilize. Maintaining a clean home, including your bathroom, is frequently a part of practicing good personal hygiene.

A lack of personal hygiene can indicate that an individual is not meeting their basic needs or that a caregiver is failing to provide essential care. The first signs of bad hygiene start with untidy, oily, or frizzy hair. Another indicator of poor hygiene is body odor.

Other signs include dirty or sweating clothes, mouth odors, and dirty fingernails. Although being frequently ill doesn’t necessarily mean bad hygiene, a person with bad personal hygiene will often suffer illness or infections.

How To Keep Hygiene of Female Private Parts

In keeping personal hygiene, here are some summer tips for maintaining the best feminine hygiene. The vagina can self-clean, which means you do not have to wash the insides. The vagina skin needs particular and careful care when it comes to hygiene.

Hand washing with soap can exacerbate an infection if you already have one. Use an intimate wash that is hypoallergenic and has been dermatologist and gynecologically tested. To stop the spread of bacteria, wash your behinds daily in warm water, especially after using the restroom.

To stop hazardous bacteria from growing and spreading, it is critical to wash your intimate area both before and after intercourse. Additionally, as it can result in infections, one should refrain from intimate contact while on their period.

What Are 10 Tips for Good Kitchen Hygiene?

Although proper kitchen cleanliness and food safety go hand in hand, most people still tend to skimp on steps while handling fresh food. Studies have indicated that if one adopts good hygiene practices early in life, they will likely stick with them.

Remove the rings and wash your hands thoroughly before you begin, as germs love to grow on your hands and can transmit quickly to food. In addition, half a lemon and salt work well with wood, and detergents work well on plastic cutting boards.

To clean fruit and vegetables from chemicals and grime, use cold running water. Furthermore, you can never be sure how many hands handled the apple before you purchased it.
