Rapper Snoop Dogg has been married to his wife, Shante Broadus, for over twenty-three years. The couple survived their most trying moment thanks to their daughter, Cori Broadus, whose ailing health gave the duo a new reason to reconnect and renew their love.

Calvin Cordozar Broadus, professionally known as Snoop Dogg, married his high school sweetheart, Shante Broadus nee Taylor, in 1997. They enjoyed marital bliss for the first seven years of their marriage, during which time they welcomed three children before things went south.
In 2004, the rapper filed for a divorce from his wife, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple commenced the divorce proceedings thereafter but never saw it through.
Moving forward, Snoop promised never to attempt divorce again. He even reassured the public that if ever they came close to divorcing again, it would be at Shante’s request, not his.
WHAT SAVED THEIR MARRIAGE?
The 49-year-old rap artist has been open about their near divorce and how they scaled through it stronger than ever. He recalled going back home one time after their separation and falling in love with his wife and kids all over again. At that moment, he knew he wanted to be part of their lives for life.
However, what really changed his mind and brought them closer was their daughter, Cori’s Lupus diagnosis, which came around the time. According to Snoop Dogg, his then-six-year-old daughter began showing symptoms of the ailment in 2005, leaving them clueless about the underlying cause.
They discovered months later that lupus was the case, not cancer as initially suspected. The couple spent months working together to find a cure for their daughter’s autoimmune condition, which ultimately facilitated their reconnection. Snoop recalled:
“That’s what it boiled down to. Cori’s lupus showed us we need to be together forever.”
Snoop recounted how he and his wife cried a thousand times during those times, fearing they might lose their only daughter to the life-depreciating illness. Eventually, they discovered a treatment for Lupus and a way to improve their daughter’s health condition.
THE LOVEBIRDS RENEWED THEIR VOWS
Following Cori’s recovery, the rap legend gifted his wife with a surprise vow renewal ceremony, sealing their love for eternity. The lovebirds renewed their vows in 2008 in an intimate ceremony on a ranch. Two hundred guests, including their kids, witnessed the milestone moment.
Snoop Dogg’s wife had no idea of the planned marriage renewal, which made the event a most romantic surprise. The family has since lived together in love and happiness. Shante Broadus and Snoop Dogg now dedicate their time and resources to the fight against lupus.
SNOOP DOGG’S KIDS
Aside from their daughter Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg and his wife have two other kids, Corde Broadus, born 1994, and Cordell Broadus, born in 1997. Additionally, the iconic rapper has another child from his extra-marital affair with Laurie Holmond.
Holmond once disclosed in an interview that they were in a relationship long before the rapper’s marriage. Admittedly, she walked away upon learning he was marrying Shante.
They hooked up once more after that, resulting in an unplanned pregnancy and the eventual birth of their son, Corrie Broadus, in 1998. Although the 49-year-old star took full financial responsibility for the boy, the duo was estranged for several years.
Snoop’s sons with Shante went on to have kids of their own, making the couple grandparents. Corde has two children, Zion Kalvin and Elleven, while Cordell has a daughter, Cordoba Journey, with his girlfriend, Phia Barragan.
