In her will, Sinead O’Connor has revealed her final wishes for her family regarding her estate. In July 2023, O’Connor passed away from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma at the age of 56. Following her death in 2023, O’Connor left an estate worth $2.12 million, which is expected to go to her three surviving children.
However, following the removal of debts, legal bills, and burial expenses, the estate is now valued at $1.75 million. Subsequently, on January 25, 2025, The Sun obtained Irish probate papers stating the future of the $1.75 million estate. According to O’Connor’s will, her estate was to be shared among her children.
Additionally, O’Connor asked for the release of her records, advising her kids to take advantage of it to the maximum. According to the 2013 signed document, O’Connor wrote, “I direct that after my death, and at the discretion of any of my children who are then over 18, my albums are to be released to milk it for what it’s worth.”
She further added, “My children can dispense my ashes as they see fit.” During her lifetime, the singer’s records have sold a total of 6.2 million copies worldwide. While O’Connor had four children, her son Shane committed suicide in 2022 at the age of 17. She was survived by Jake Reynolds, Roisin Waters, and Yeshua Bonadio.

Prior to her conversion to Islam, Sinead O’Connor had written her will in 2013. However, following her death in 2023, her will’s details were announced in 2025, sparking controversy. At the top of the controversy is O’Connor’s choice of executor, her ex-husband John Reynolds.
Another area of her will that sparked controversy was her intention to leave her religious artifacts to her son, Shane. According to her death certificate, O’Connor died from “exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with a low-grade lower respiratory tract infection.”
