Are you ready to see “Snow White” come to life? If yes, you aren’t alone. The Disney live-action version of “Snow White” is slated to hit theaters on March 21, 2025. Rachel Zeglar has been chosen to bring the Disney princess to life, while Gal Gadot will play the evil queen. But the “Snow White” live-action will come with some changes.
“She’s not going to be saved by The Prince, and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love,” Zeglar hinted in a June 2022 interview. The new “Snow White” is more exposed and empowered because, as Zeglar stated, “It’s no longer 1937.” It will be fun to see how the rebranded Snow White faces off with the wicked queen, who will do whatever it takes to dim her light.
Snow White will also wield more power than she did in the 1937 animation. “She’s dreaming about becoming the leader that she knows she can be, and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true,” Zeglar also revealed.
Zeglar’s performance in the movie has received a truckload of praise. Most notable was that from the movie’s director, Marc Webb, who was behind the camera for “The Amazing Spider-Man.” Webb told reporters that Zeglar only had to read the script to convince him she was the perfect fit for the role.
Webb is excited about a number of Snow White qualities that Zeglar brings to the table. He was awed by her “inherent grace, poise, and goodness,” which reminded him of “so much of what is essential to Snow White.” He didn’t forget to mention her angelic voice, which brought the script supervisor to tears on the set.

Meet the Cast of the Upcoming Snow White Live-Action Movie?
Let’s get acquainted with the carefully selected cast for the “Snow White” live-action movie. Of course, we begin with the front-liner herself, Rachel Zeglar.
Rachel Zeglar
According to some crew members, 23-year-old Rachel Zeglar nailed the lead role in the movie. She plays Snow White, the maid who faced persecution from her diabolic stepmother till she fought back and brought justice to the kingdom.
The New Jersey-born actress has given hints about the differences between the new Snow White character and the 1937 version. In addition to the modifications earlier mentioned, there’s a difference in the origin of the name Snow White.
In contrast to the original story, the “Snow White” live-action states that the name originated from a snowstorm she survived as a baby. “And so the king and queen decided to name her Snow White to remind her of her resilience,” Zeglar revealed. “One of the core points in our film for any young woman or young person is remembering how strong you actually are.”
Gal Gadot
Israeli actress Gal Gadot was Snow White’s stepmother and an evil, jealous queen who couldn’t stand the thought of not being the most beautiful in the kingdom. The queen employed every dark means she could think of to terminate Snow White’s life, including transforming into an old woman.
According to the 39-year-old actress, this transformation took four hours to achieve. “I feel so lucky that I get to play something that is so far from what I know and what I’m used to.” Gadot also stated she “enjoyed every second of it.”
Andrew Burnap
Another difference between the animated “Snow White” and the live-action version is that the Prince is missing from the new version. The filmmakers created a new character in its place—Jonathan, played by Andrew Burnap. Burnap himself described the difference between his character and that of the prince.
Although Jonathan became Snow White’s love interest, his role in her life wasn’t the same as that of the prince. “It’s no longer a princess waiting to be saved by a prince,” he stated. He added, “Jonathan is less of a full-on prince and more of a reluctant hero.”
Ansu Kabia
British actor Ansu Kabia played the character of the Huntsman, who was a servant of the Queen. Kabia isn’t new to participating in high-profile movies. He drew lots of admiration through his performance in the British detective series “Miss Scarlet and the Duke.”
Kabia also played a major role in the 2017 movie, “Murder on the Orient Express.” He has also made a name in theater productions.

When Will the Snow White Live Action Premiere?
“Snow White” live-action will hit theaters in the United States on March 21, 2025. Aside from Rachel Zeglar, Andrew Burnap, Gal Gadot, and Ansu Kabia, other casts include Emilia Faucher, who played the role of the younger Snow White, Martin Klebba, who played Grumpy, and Joshmaine Joseph, who was a guard.
Plans for a live-action adaptation were hatched in 2016. But it was in 2021 that the filmmakers settled for Zeglar and the cast for the other roles. They released the movie’s first trailer in October 2024. The screenplay was co-written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
The live-action also included some new songs written by Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The filmmakers did much of the filming in 2022, but the movie wasn’t ready for release. They released the first full-length trailer in December 2024, drawing mixed reactions from viewers.
