In a recent interview, Sally Struthers opened up about her encounter with Betty White. On Monday, January 13, 2025, during an episode of “Let us Talk About That!” with Larry Saperstein and Jacob Bellotti, Struthers detailed a previous incident with the late comedian.
According to Struthers, she had the opportunity of coming in contact with White, who reportedly fat-shamed her at a game show pilot pitch meeting. Struthers stated that now that White, who died on December 31, 2021, in her sleep in her Brentwood home at the age of 99 after a stroke, she wanted to talk about the late comedian.

While speaking on an episode of “Let Us Talk About That!” Sally Struthers opened up on how she was fat-shamed by Betty White. According to Struthers, she had attempted to get a cookie off a platter in front of her at White’s house when the late comedian fat-shamed her in front of their friends.
Struthers said, “I have to say, now that she is gone, I want to talk about Betty White for just a moment. I know everyone adores her—so much so that they submitted petitions to have her guest host Saturday Night Live. I did not have such a positive experience with her.”
The actress said, recalling the encounter, “So I reach for a cookie, and she said in front of everyone, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t do that if I were you, dear. You don’t need a cookie.’ Totally fat-shamed me in front of the rest of the people in the room, and I thought, ‘Gosh, that’s not nice.'”
Subsequently, Struthers went on to describe White as “a very passive-aggressive woman.” Struthers explained that the incident left a bad taste in her mouth when it occurred. At the time, the two were working together on the pilot for a new game show in White’s Los Angeles home.
Struthers said, “She asked her housekeeper to bring in a plate of whatever to us while we were all sitting and talking about what was working about the game show and what wasn’t working. A plate was set in the middle and it was cookies, I think.”

Speaking with Page Six on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Sally Struthers opened up on how her life has changed following the success of “All in the Family.” Struthers said, “It became apparent rather quickly that my life had completely turned upside down.”
Speaking on time on the show, Struthers stated that following the sitcom’s success, she was unable to do certain things. According to Struthers, she and Rob Reiner used to have lunch at The Grove in Los Angeles but had to stop within two months.
In addition, Struthers stated that people assumed she was married to Reiner, who portrayed Michael “Meathead” Stivic in the 1970s sitcom. Notably, at the time the CBS show was airing, Struthers was married to William Rader, although they divorced in 1983.
Describing her experience, she joked, “When they saw me with my real-life husband, they [would] go, ‘Where’s your husband?’ People are so funny. They get an idea in their heads; they’re like an old dog with a bone.” However, Struthers went on to express her gratitude for “All in the Family” despite the downside of instant fame.

What Is Sally Struthers Age?
As of January 2025, Sally Struthers is 77 years old. Struthers was born on July 28, 1947, in Portland, Oregon. She was born as the second daughter of her parents, physician Robert Alden Struthers and Margaret Caroline. Following her father’s departure from their family in 1956, Struthers was raised by her mother in the Concordia district of northeast Portland.
At the time of her father’s departure, Struthers was nine years old. During Sally Struthers’ early years, her mother, who worked at Bonneville Power Administration to support herself and her two children, had severe depression. Following her graduation from Grant High School, Struthers attended the Pasadena Playhouse College of Theatre and Arts.
