Ryan Reilly is debunking the January 6 conspiracy theory promoted by Liz Peek in her article. The Hill published Peek’s article in response to the upcoming release of the full range of videos from 2021’s Capitol riot.
In the article, Peek suggests that the tapes will prompt many to rethink what they understand about the day’s events. Peek says that coverage of the Capitol riot “from the liberal media” and “the made-for-TV depiction of events” shares only one side of the story.

She argued that the videos, some released by Tucker Carlson in April, tell another story. She said, “It is clear that Democrats cherry-picked the evidence that painted Trump and his supporters in the worst possible light. Commentators on the right have done the opposite. Legitimate questions persist.”
She pointed out how some protestors were freed from cuffs and received fist-bumps from cops. This suggests that there were undercover FBI or police who were deliberately instigating the storming of the Capitol.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), chairman of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, raised the issue last spring. In a letter addressed to the Metropolitan Police Department, he asked about the presence of ”plain-clothes officers.”
POLL — Should Donald J. Trump Be Allowed to Run for Office?
Correcting that assumption, Reilly says Jared Luther Owens is the man from the video. Reilly says his release was “because police were overwhelmed.” He says that Owens was not a paid instigator, as the Department of Justice’s charges tag him.
Owens’ arrest happened on October 30, 2023. His charges include felony offenses of obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder and “assault on law enforcement with a deadly or dangerous weapon.”
The press release detailing the charges explains that Owens’s alleged attempt to shove a barricade into a “line of officers” led to one female officer suffering a fractured wrist. They also accuse him of shoving an officer up against a wall inside the Capitol before his apprehension.
The public awaits the release of the footage, including Republican powerhouses like Marjorie Taylor Greene.

In an X post that no longer exists. She keys into the conspiracy that MAGA had nothing to do with the riot on January 6, demanding that a new investigation needs to be done. Greene and other Republicans have been fighting to release people behind bars for what transpired on January 6 but with little luck.
Many believe those people are recruits of Donald Trump and that they don’t need pardon for their offenses. In the meantime, the wait for the videos from January 6, 2021, continues.
The attack from that day is still a popular topic today. Many believe it was an assault on democracy. Anderson Cooper called it “the worst single act of political violence since the Civil War.”
