“This morning, Richard Simmons’ brother Lenny received a call from the LA Coroner’s office,” the spokesperson said. “The coroner informed Lenny that Richard’s death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor.”

“The toxicology report was negative other than the medication Richard had been prescribed,” Estey stated. “The family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this time of great loss.”

According to Estey, Simmons was found dead by his longtime caretaker, Teresa Reveles. Reveles revealed that when she saw Simmons, he appeared serene with his hands clenched into fists.

Reveles said, “That’s why I know it was a heart attack. I had a heart attack a few years ago, and my hands did the same.” Reveles reported that Simmons’ leg suffered following a fall on July 11, 2024.

However, when Reveles asked that he go to the hospital, Simmons protested, “No, Teresa, not on my birthday. Why [don’t we] wait, and we do it in the morning?” Unfortunately, by the morning of July 13, 2024, he was dead.

According to Los Angeles Police Department officials, no foul play was linked to Richard Simmons’ passing. He was buried on July 18, 2024, six days after his birthday, surrounded by only family and closest friends.
