Prince William and Kate Middleton are soaked up in love for Valentine’s Day. The royal couple shocked everyone on February 14, 2025, when they posted an intimate photo of themselves on social media. Despite the photo being old, the couple’s post has set the mood and inspired many people for Valentine’s.
In the photo, William, 42, and Kate, 43, held hands as the prince kissed his wife on the cheeks. The adorable photo showed the couple in a romantic-looking wooded area. This has been identified as the Sandringham Estate grounds. The couple are known to retreat to the area for summer alongside their kids for a family get-together.
Prince William and Kate aren’t known to fancy PDAs. They’ve been official and conservative during their public appearances. Little wonder the photo has been the talk of the town on social media since it dropped. Excited fans and followers soon gathered around to admire the photograph.
“Happy Valentine’s Day to our favorite royal couple,” one user commented. Another wrote, “Such a beautiful picture! It’s one of my all-time favorites of you, too … happy Valentine’s Day! I absolutely love your love for each other.”
The couple were captured on camera by Will Warr in August 2024. They were just a little distance away from their Anmer Hall home in their Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. They moved to the residence while Princess Kate was receiving treatment for cancer.

Prince William’s Valentine’s Day post is the latest news about the royal couple. Social media was wowed by the images because it was unexpected from the Prince and Princess. However, they have made some effort to be more open about their intimate lives since last year.
In June 2024, on Prince William’s birthday, Princess Kate penned a sweet social media post for her husband. “We all love you so much!” she wrote. The Prince returned the favor on her birthday on January 9, 2025. “To the most incredible wife and mother,” he wrote.
“The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis, and I are so proud of you… We love you,” he continued. The message came along with a newly unveiled photo of Princess Kate, which was taken in the summer of 2024 by Matt Porteous.
Prince William was grateful to have his wife in great shape after her chemotherapy treatment last year. Princess Kate herself has described her experience with cancer treatment. She made the revelation during her first official engagement of 2025. She paid a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital.
During the January 14 visit, she disclosed that she had undergone cancer treatment at the facility. She also revealed that she would be joining her husband as a patron of the hospital. The princess spoke to cancer patients at the hospital offering them words of comfort as well as some gist about her treatment experience.
When she met with a patient with a cold cap, she said, “I got so attached to it.” Speaking about the equipment that serves to prevent hair loss, she stated that she was hesitant when she was told, “You can have it taken out.”
Why Did Prince William Split Up With Kate?
Prince William and Kate Middleton have had their fair share of bumps in their fairy tale relationship. At one point during their journey from college lovers to the royal couple, the Prince thought about jilting Princess Kate.
In a biography of the princess, it was revealed that Prince William broke up with her over the phone. The book “Catherine the Princess of Wales” which was written by ABC News’ royal contributor Robert Jobson, detailed the incident.

At the time, the princess was close to turning 25. Prince William was still in the military. “Seemingly out of the blue, William — now a 2nd Lieutenant in the Blues and Royals — telephoned her to suggest that they split up,” the book narrated. Princess Kate agreed.
“It was a devastating blow to Catherine, who felt doubly let down at being dumped over the phone. Though it wasn’t the first time William had called time on their relationship, it felt final,” Jobson further wrote. But the tables later turned after they reunited at a mutual friend’s party.
Prince William is proud of how things turned out. The bond between him and Kate Middleton continues to grow stronger.
Commenting on the Valentine’s Day post, royal historian, Dr Tessa Dunlop described it as a powerful statement. “Gone are the days when royally kept their distance and avoided overtly sentimental displays of affection,” he stated.
“William is letting everyone know just how proud he is of his wife, and likewise what they have achieved together. Contrary to monarchy’s reputation in recent years, here is a functional family that can face down adversity together,” he added.
