Politics is controversial, but nothing is more controversial than getting caught lying to boost public ratings. A Republican congresswoman has come under heavy scrutiny from the secretary of transportation and the online community.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Lauren Boebert took to X to celebrate the approval of funding. She wrote about the allocation of over $51 million, which is to fund the construction of the South Bridge project in Colorado. She said she made the project possible through her efforts and contributions.

However, the new X feature, Community Notes, was quick to quote the tweet as false, clearly focusing on the origin and truth of the funding. However, she hadn’t secured any funding for the project at all. Rather, the funding came from a Rural Surface Transportation Grant Program. The program is a part of the Biden Administration Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, an act Boebert voted against.

Pete Buttigieg is the current Secretary of Transportation for the Biden Administration. Buttigieg decided to respond to her self-appreciation tweet, which he quoted. He asked her to explain in what way she supported or helped secure the funding.

She replied to Buttigieg by sharing a letter she claimed she had sent to his office in July 2022. She lobbied for a grant to help fund the project in the letter. However, she promised to vote against the bill that included the project.. Furthermore, she claimed that he must have missed the letter because he was chest-feeding.

She later stated that funding for infrastructure is something the past administration has done regardless of the party. It was her way of saying the Biden administration was not the first to do so.

According to sources, the bipartisan Infrastructure bill is one of the Biden administration’s most important achievements. State and local projects have secured funding across the country to ensure their implementation. The total expense of the bill amounts to $454 billion for 56,000 projects.

There have been different amounts of criticism around Boebert X’s post by a lot of online commentators. They clowned her for trying to claim credit for Biden’s action despite her prejudice toward the president. She is one of Biden’s outspoken critics, frequently describing him as evil and corrupt.

More outcry came from her response to Buttigieg’s post, especially around the use of the word “chest-feeding”. Chestfeeding is the practice of feeding a newborn or child at the chest and is associated with the transgender community.

Buttigieg is the first US cabinet member to come out to the general public as homosexual. In September 2021, he and his husband informed the world via their Instagram page that they had become parents.

The ring-wing extremist proceeded to make a mockery of Buttigieg by doctoring an image of him wearing a synthetic breastfeeding device.

Boebert thought it was a good point to bring up during their argument, even though it has been known for years that the photo is false. Some people on social media took this to mean that she was criticizing his marriage and sexuality.
