Being far-right is not a crime, but how far right can you go before there’s nothing left?
Michele Morrow, a far-right Republican, recently decried “extreme agendas” she claims threaten our children’s future.” But only after she had a confrontation with reporters over tweets that saw her call for the executions of democrats.
“Don’t let extreme agendas threaten our children’s future,” Michele Morrow said on social media on Thursday. She also claimed to be “facing the most radical extremist Democrats [that] have ever run for superintendent in the history of North Carolina.”
Morrow may not have used the word extreme if she had remembered she once resorted to such measures. Unfortunately for her, there are no better custodians of past information than media houses.

Unsurprisingly, there was a CNN crew with receipts of her past statements. The crew confronted her about old posts in which she advocated violence against leading Democrats.
Morrow’s comments between 2019 and 2021 include a May 2020 tweet in which she said some terrible things. She mentioned Obama, saying citizens deserve “a Pay-per-view of him in front of a firing squad.”
She also said: “I do not want to waste another dime on supporting his life. We could make some money back from televising his death.”
In December 2020, Biden said he would ask Americans to wear masks against Covid-19 for 100 days. Of course, Morrow did not like it. She said: “Never. We need to follow the constitution’s advice and KILL all TRAITORS!!!”
Morrow said other Democrats who should be executed included Minnesota congresswoman Ilhan Omar, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, former first lady, senator, secretary of state, and presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and New York senator Chuck Schumer.
She also called for the heads of Anthony Fauci, Trump’s ex-senior public health adviser, and Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft.
She also promoted slogans and claims linked to the QAnon conspiracy theory. Morrow’s first response to the report was to attack CNN.
She said: “According to [CNN], Obama’s drone attacks on hundreds of innocent Muslims in Yemen are not treasonous. The insanity of the media demonstrates the need to teach K-12 students real history and critical thinking skills.”
On Thursday, CNN played footage of a parking lot confrontation between Morrow and its correspondent, Shimon Prokupecz.
Prokupecz said: “Do you still stand by your comments about former president Barack Obama and that he should be executed, calling for the death of other presidents? Do you stand by that?”
Morrow repeatedly said: “No comment.” Instead, she talked about how she was “focused on helping the families of North Carolina, for their children to get quality education, for them to be safe, and for us to be sure that our money is going into the classroom rather than bureaucracies.”

When Prokupecz pressed Morrow about her tweets advocating executions of prominent Democrats, she said: “How do you know those are my words?”
Prokupecz responded, “Because you tweeted. Are those not your tweets?” In response, Morrow said she only wanted to “discuss education.”
On Thursday, Morrow took to social media with a video that saw her complaining about how three CNN reporters were stalking her and her family.
She also said on Thursday that the CNN crew who confronted her were “trying to interfere in the 2024 election, just like they did in the 2020 election”.

The North Carolina public school system educates 1.3 million students. Amid attempts by the Republican right to gain control of public schooling, the North Carolina superintendent race will undoubtedly attract national attention.
The Democratic candidate is Mo Green, a former county superintendent and executive director of a foundation focusing on public education.
