Days after the heartbreaking incident of Sophia Hutchins’ fatal crash, new and chilling details have come to light about the possible circumstances that led to her death. While the police investigation is still ongoing, early reports suggest that speed may have contributed to the tragic accident. This discovery has raised many questions, with some doubting the authorities, but full details are still developing.
Hutchins was a well-known businesswoman and Caitlyn Jenner’s longtime friend and manager. Her unfortunate passing has left the Hollywood and LGBTQ+ communities in shock. She was pronounced dead on the morning of July 2 after an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash near Jenner’s home in Malibu, Southern California.
What Caused the Fatal Crash That Killed Sophia Hutchins?
The cause of Sophia Hutchins’ fatal crash has not been determined yet, but authorities have shared insight that she may have been driving at excessive speed when the fatal accident occurred.
According to law enforcement sources, the 29-year-old was ‘likely speeding’ while traveling southbound in the Malibu mountains. She was driving a black and blue 2013 Polaris four-wheeler “side-by-side”. Her ATV hit the back bumper of a moving gray 2016 Mazda 6 and rear-ended it. She was then thrown off the road, plunged over a cliff, and fell more than 300 feet into a ravine.

The collision happened on Wednesday, July 2, at 11:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of Decker Edison Road. And Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station deputies responded at 11:30 a.m. Paramedics tried to revive her, but Hutchins was declared dead at the scene. It’s not known if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
Video provided by OnScene.TV to KTLA 5 from the scene showed the overturned ATV at the base of the cliff, with several older, rusted-out vehicles also visible in the ravine, indicating possible previous incidents of cars falling or being dumped from the roadway above. The ATV was found overturned, and investigators are examining tire marks and road conditions.
“We’re reviewing all evidence,” one officer said.

What Did Police Reveal About Sophia Hutchins’ Death?
The police authorities have not released full details about what led to Sophia Hutchins’ fatal crash, but officers are currently focusing on speed as a possible factor. According to Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, she was reportedly driving an ATV on a private property trail when she lost control and crashed.
“It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, the other party, and then that caused her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” Saucedo told Daily Mail.

Were There Any Other Victims in Sophia Hutchins’ Accident?
Yes, there were other victims in the Sophia Hutchins’ fatal crash incident. There were reportedly two uninjured females in the car.
“It doesn’t seem like she was following them, I think she just came up on them and then hit the car,” said Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo.
The other vehicle had two female passengers inside, but fortunately, they were not injured in the crash.
“So it looked like she tried to maneuver to go around it,” Saucedo continued, “but she was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there.”
