The sheriff’s chief deputy in Lancaster County, Nebraska, later elaborated that in cases like Glantz’s, a patient’s death is foreseen. A physician had attended to her more recently and was prepared to sign the death certificate, indicating there was nothing suspicious at the time of her passing – all criteria were met. But here’s what would shock you: Glantz experienced an unexpected revival! How? Read on to find out.

The Miraculous Revival Story of Constance Glantz

In cases like Glantz’s, a coroner’s investigation would typically not be necessary. In fact, a law enforcement officer would not be dispatched, explained Ben Houchin. That is why the sheriff’s office was not initially sent to the nursing home.

However, on Monday, June 3, 2024, some miraculous events left everyone stunned. According to Houchin, earlier that morning, at exactly 9:44 a.m., staff at The Mulberry home in Waverly had already declared Glantz dead. With her passing foreseen, at least two individuals arrived to transport her body for preparation without confirming other information. Fast forward to when the body got to the funeral home, the staff started their procedures. During this process, a staff member noticed something was off. Nearly two hours later, after pronouncing her dead and a 25-minute drive to the funeral home, Glantz showed signs of life. Fellas, she was breathing! Houchin recounted that it was after the shocking incident that the funeral home contacted 911.

A Quick Return from Death

Houchin recounted that the call from Butherus, Maser, and Love Funeral Home was received around 11:45 a.m., as reported by CNN affiliate KOLN. Lincoln police, fire, and rescue personnel rushed to the scene, where they found Constance Glantz performing the seemingly impossible act of breathing. Houchin later revealed that Glantz was transported to a local hospital and was still alive at that time. In fact, she survived a few more hours but stopped breathing around 4 p.m. and was pronounced dead once again. An autopsy was conducted the following morning. The sheriff’s office immediately informed Glantz’s family about the incident and began investigating. They started by visiting the nursing home; however, they did not find any evidence of criminal intent by the nursing home, though the investigation was ongoing.

Houchin emphasized that the nursing home and others involved would review the events to determine if new protocols were needed and if existing ones were followed. Houchin clarified that the funeral home acted correctly, as they were the ones who discovered Glantz was still alive. The Butherus, Maser, and Love Funeral Home were proud of how their staff handled the situation with utmost care. They extended prayers to the family and thanked Lincoln Fire & Rescue and the Lincoln Police Department for their quick response. They reiterated their commitment to serving the community with faith, trust, and compassion. Houchin added that both the funeral home and the nursing home had been fully cooperative with the investigation.

According to Houchin, we will eventually know whether charges are warranted after the final autopsy results, which could take up to 12 weeks. At least, that would be the next significant step.
