A man was arrested by the Missouri police after confessing to the murder of his sick wife. This happened while she was in a hospital bed; his reason was his inability to pay for her treatment.
Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker of Jackson County said that Ronnie Wiggs has been charged with second-degree murder in regard to the death of his wife. She passed away on Saturday in Independence, a suburb of Kansas City.
Wiggs, whose age was initially given as 75 or 76, disappeared after leaving the hospital. He subsequently made a comeback and was allegedly overheard admitting to the murder.
Wiggs admitted to detectives that he killed her while she was at Centerpoint Medical Center getting a new dialysis port. The police or prosecution have refused to release the victim’s name for the time being.

In the affidavit signed by a department officer, Wiggs’s 72-year-old wife was found unconscious and unresponsive by a staff. However, they were able to resuscitate her before transferring her to the intensive care unit.
Although medical personnel were able to restore her pulse, they concluded that she was brain dead and began the process of removing her organs, as stated in the probable cause statement. His spouse passed away on Saturday.
According to hospital employees who spoke with police, Wiggs said he had carried out the action by means of strangulation. Wiggs fled the hospital after authorities claimed he had choked her till she passed out.

On May 3, 2024, Ronnie Wiggs confessed to killing his ailing wife in the hospital due to financial constraints. Consequently, the police charged Wiggs with second-degree murder. She passed away, according to the police, the next day.
Wiggs claimed to have choked his wife in the hospital bed to silence her, according to police reports. Wiggs stated that he was no longer able to support his wife and pay her medical expenses. He allegedly admitted to being despondent to detectives as well.
The affidavit states that Wiggs admitted to authorities that he had attempted to strangle his wife while she was in treatment but he could not do it. Court records showed that when he choked her, she woke up and “told him not to do that again.”

Prosecutors said on Tuesday that Wiggs was being held on a $250,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for a hearing. It is still unknown if he had hired a lawyer.
Second-degree murder convictions carry class A felony charges in Missouri, which carry sentences of up to 30 years in prison or life without the possibility of parole. For several American citizens, medical debt is an increasing source of worry.
