The week-long rescue operation ended on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, when the remains of the sixth and last construction employee was found at the Key Bridge debris location. José Mynor López, thirty-seven, is officially the final construction employee to be found following the bridge’s collapse on March 26.
Lopez migrated to the US in search of greater opportunities after leaving Guatemala, where he was born. His dad and his spouse resided in Dundalk. Other bodies found included Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez, Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, Maynor Yasir Suazo-Sandoval, and Carlos Daniel Hernandez Estrella.
Colonel Roland Butler, Jr., Director of the Maryland Department of State Law Enforcement, said, “With sadness, today symbolizes a landmark in efforts to recover by offering comfort to the families of all six employees who died in this unfortunate tragedy.”
“José Mynor López, Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, Maynor Yasir Suazo-Sandoval, Carlos Daniel Hernandez Estrella, and Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez are remembered as we grieve with the families,” he added.

Governor of Maryland Wes Moore sent his sympathies to the families of the six construction employees who lost their lives. “We offer prayers for José Mynor Lopez, his loved ones, and his family,” he said. Moore expressed his profound delight at the victim being reunited with his loved ones and urged everyone to honor their need for privacy during this trying time.
“We continue to pray for the healing, peace of mind, and loved ones of Alejandro Hernández Fuentes, Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, Carlos Hernández, Miguel Ángel Luna González, Maynor Yasir Suazo-Sandoval, and Carlos Hernández,” he added.
“We will always remember the lives of these six residents of Maryland and will not waver in our dedication to providing ongoing support.”

“I feel horrible,” Isabel Franco stated. “Only God understands the pain in my heart. Perhaps he was fleeing in panic.” Due to the climatic conditions, Franco said a colleague informed her that the staff was instructed to pack up for the day and go earlier.
“He had a nice attitude and worked diligently. He was also always concerned about his loved ones. Even in death, he never stopped fighting for us.”
On March 26, at about 1:30 a.m., the cargo ship Dali struck the Key Bridge, forcing it to collapse and sending eight workers into the Patapsco River as they were fixing holes in the structure.

Six workers were also pulled from the disaster scene after two were saved. Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski commented, “We unite with their loved ones and their families in their despair and keep praying for restoration for them and for all those who were impacted by this unimaginable disaster.”
He added, “We hope that these efforts will help the families of the six fatalities find comfort. We appreciate the Unified Command team for their courageous dedication to hunt and retrieval activities and for their unshakable determination to ensure that every individual was received with respect.”
