One week after her detention, Minnesota Senator Nicole Mitchell was banned from her committee responsibilities and chamber sessions. Sen. Erin Murphy, Leader of the Democratic Majority, issued a statement saying that Sen. Nicole will be withdrawn from her committee duties and excluded from chamber briefings while the issue undergoes investigation within the Senate and in the courts.
The senator’s duties will be suspended while the Senate and judicial authorities look into her detention on April 22. The lawmaker told the officers that she was there to retrieve her father’s remains and other personal belongings.
Despite her explanation, she was also accused and apprehended of first-degree breaking and entering. According to Murphy, it is a sad occurrence, which gives room to more queries that require some response.
In a statement with the Law enforcement agency superintendent, Steve Todd. Nicole, forty-nine, went to visit a family member in Minnesota who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. She was then taken into custody and convicted of first-degree theft.

She serves the municipality about 200 kilometers northwest of the city. According to local media, she was taken into detention at the Becker County Jail and released without posting a bond the following day.

As earlier communicated by news media, Sen. Nicole stated to the officer, I was collecting my father’s remains and other important artifacts. She added, “I was putting on a black dress and a cap at the time I was being apprehended.”
The senator said in a post on her social media handle on FB that she visited the family relative after acquiring some knowledge of her health condition.
The Senator continues by saying that Nicole’s situation was sent to the Senate Subcommittee on Ethical Conduct on April 25. The judicial inquiry is still underway.
Presently, Nicole is one of 6 legislators from Minnesota who have been convicted yet are still maintained by the government.
She said she had been acquainted with the other person associated with this case since she was 4 years old and truly loved and had a genuine concern for her. In a further statement, she stated that she was highly displeased that the report lacked details of what happened, including significant information.
