One week after her detention, Minnesota Senator Nicole Mitchell was banned from her committee responsibilities and chamber sessions. Sen. Erin Murphy, Leader of the Democratic Majority, issued a statement saying that Sen. Nicole will be withdrawn from her committee duties and excluded from chamber briefings while the issue undergoes investigation within the Senate and in the courts.

The senator’s duties will be suspended while the Senate and judicial authorities look into her detention on April 22. The lawmaker told the officers that she was there to retrieve her father’s remains and other personal belongings.

Despite her explanation, she was also accused and apprehended of first-degree breaking and entering. According to Murphy, it is a sad occurrence, which gives room to more queries that require some response.

In a statement with the Law enforcement agency superintendent, Steve Todd. Nicole, forty-nine, went to visit a family member in Minnesota who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. She was then taken into custody and convicted of first-degree theft.
