On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Jarrell appeared at the Washtenaw County court for trespassing. However, things took a turn when Jarrell interrupted the trial judge, Cedric Simpson. Jarrell said, “I’m tired of this state. I’m ready to leave this state as soon as possible.”

The Details of the Altercation

After expressing his desire to leave Michigan, Jarrell added, “You guys can kiss my a–.” Judge Simpson, who wasn’t having Jarrell’s outburst, issued a warning against using such language in his further comments.

However, instead of complying with the warning, Jarrell repeated, “F— you!” at Simpson. Consequently, Simpson informed Jarrell that he was in contempt of court and filed a 93-day misdemeanor charge against him.

Despite the new charges added, Jarrell repeated his earlier statement to Simpson, which got another 93-day sentence. However, this led to six more exchanges before Jarrell was removed from the courtroom. At the end of the exchange, the total number of days amounted to 558 days in prison.

Simpson moved on to the next case, reassuring the waiting defendant about the outburst. This won’t be Simpson’s first time experiencing such, given his encounter with 44-year-old Corey Harris earlier in 2024. Harris was charged with driving with a suspended license.

The Upper Peninsula, once exploited for logging and mining, is now a key tourist destination due to its natural resources. The Lower Peninsula is known for manufacturing, forestry, agriculture, services, and high-tech industries.

What Are 5 Facts About Michigan?

Originally belonging to Native Americans, the first European settlers were French explorers who reached the area in 1618. However, in the French and Indian War, which lasted between 1754 and 1763, France was defeated, ceding the territories to England.

Does It Rain a Lot in Michigan?

Michigan benefits from the Great Lakes, moderating the climate by warming winter winds and cooling summer ones compared to neighboring states. The temperature differences between the far northern and far southern cities of Michigan are not very great despite the Upper Peninsula being colder.

On average, about 30 to 38 inches (760–965 mm) of precipitation falls in Michigan each year. With rainfall decreasing toward the northeast, the wettest region of the state is located in the southwest. One of the driest places in the US east of the Mississippi River is Alpena, which is located in the northeastern Lower Peninsula.
