“I want to live.”
These were the heartbreaking words of Michael Strahan’s daughter as she battled brain cancer. The TV personality disclosed this while discussing his fears and hopes for his daughter Isabella, who was diagnosed with and treated for medulloblastoma. He also shared the progress so far and how she is moving on with her life.
Speaking with People magazine in a recent interview, Strahan described his experience as he stood by his daughter Isabelle in her darkest times. Still, he said, she has refused to give up on life, resolving instead to face every new day with positivity and courage.
“She wasn’t eating much,” he revealed, describing her state while she underwent the cancer treatment. “She was thin and tired and bald and all the things you hate to see your kid go through,” he added.
The “Good Morning America” host disclosed that his daughter has now completed the cancer treatment. The doctors removed the tumor. Afterward, she went through a round of chemotherapy, which severely affected her body. In all this, Strahan is pleased that his daughter has remained the fighter that he knows her to be.
“Daddy, I’ll do whatever. I want to live,” she told him at one point. These were heart-rending words for any father to hear. “I knew she wouldn’t quit. She was going to fight – and she did,” he said in the interview, which People released on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. What Is Wrong With Michael Strahans Daughter?
The Strahan family is soon to share the story of their daughter’s battle with brain cancer. At 10 p.m. February 5, 2025, through an ABC special, the family will give a detailed rundown of Isabelle Strahan’s experience from diagnosis to the aftermath of her treatment.
“Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer” will also show on February 6 on Hulu and Disney+. In January 2024, Isabelle Strahan was on “Good Morning America” to announce her diagnosis. She stated that doctors found a tumor growing in her cerebellum, which is the lower back region of her brain.
Michael Strahan’s daughter also revealed that she received the diagnosis in October 2023. She stated that during her first semester at the University of Southern California, she began to have strange headaches. It also came with dizziness and nausea.
Initially, she thought she was suffering from vertigo. But when she suddenly started throwing up blood, she knew the situation was more than she could explain. After confiding in her sister Sophia, she was convinced that she needed to seek medical attention.
Sophia related the situation to her parents – Michael and ex-wife Jean Muggli. Both of them later met Isabelle at the hospital. After running tests and scans, the doctor revealed that there was a tumor in the cerebellum, the part of the brain that ensures balance and coordination.
Immediately, they fixed a surgery for the next day, which coincidentally happened to be Isabelle’s 20th birthday. According to Dr. David Ashley, who was in charge of her case at the North Carolina hospital, the tumor was about 4 cm. “It was somewhere between the size of a golf ball and a tennis ball,” the doctor explained.
Does Michael Strahans Daughter Isabella Still Have Cancer?
Michael Strahan’s daughter is now cancer-free. Doctors were able to kill the tumor with several procedures that lasted through eight months. After the major surgery, Isabelle Strahan had to undergo two more surgeries. These were clean-ups intended to clear out the tumor site and rid it of any infections.
The doctors also had to introduce a titanium mesh plate into a part of her skull. For the first time, Michael Strahan said, that he saw his daughter break down in tears. The rest of her family were also on the ground to give her all the psychological support she needed. These included her mom, Jean Muggli.
“My mom would sleep in the hospital with me,” Isabelle Strahan recalled. Muggli also hailed her daughter’s doggedness and courage. “Isabella’s strength and resilience were the same as it was when she was a little girl. The way she handled every day with grace was amazing,” Muggli stated.

Michael Strahans Daughter Beat Cancer: What Is She Up to Now?
Isabelle Strahan is now back to normal life. She is back to school and has continued to share her journey. While she underwent her last round of chemo in June 2024, she posted the video on YouTube. The clip showed her walking down the hospital hallway as her family sprayed the air with pieces of confetti.
She shared another clip of herself in a car, describing her return to a cancer-free experience. “It was a great, great scan,” she reported. “Everything was clear. Cancer-free, and everything is great. I don’t have another doctor’s appointment until October,” she stated happily.
Although cancer-free, Isabelle and her dad remain apprehensive even despite the positive assurances from her doctors. “That’s what we’re going to hold on to, but you’re nervous every time. That will never go away but as long as the results come back positive, then we’ll live to fight another day,” he stated. Michael Strahan’s daughter also shares the same concern.
“Obviously, you can’t predict what will happen, and that’s a little scary,” she admitted. “But I don’t think you can solely live in fear. I think I should live every day. Take every opportunity. I see the impact that can come from sharing my experience. I want to be a voice.
