The 56-year-old has been wedded twice while serving a life prison term without the possibility of release for the murders of Jose and Kitty Menendez since 1996. Similarly, his younger brother has been married to Tammi since 1999.
On November 21, Sneed stated on Facebook that she and Lyle Menendez had been separated “for a while now.” In a post on her husband, Lyle Menendez’s Facebook page, Rebecca Sneed clarified that their separation should not be misconstrued as a scandal.
She emphasized that they remain best friends and family, and she continues to manage his Facebook pages with his input. Sneed also reaffirmed her commitment to fighting for Lyle and Erik Menendez’s freedom, a cause she has been dedicated to for years.
Sneed requested anyone who follows her Facebook page to keep the focus on “abuse survivor support,” which she says is what Lyle Menendez wants the page to be about. Following the revelation, a spokesperson for Lyle Menendez did not immediately reply to a request for comment from media outlets.

Who Is Lyle Menendez’s Estranged Wife?
Lyle Menendez’s wife, Rebecca Sneed, a former magazine journalist and editor, became an attorney after marrying Menendez. She now lives in Sacramento, California, close to where her husband was imprisoned during the beginning of their marriage.
According to the Associated Press, Menendez and Sneed had known each other for a decade before marrying. They communicated through letters while he was imprisoned. In January 2017, Menendez told PEOPLE that he felt “guilty” about what Sneed had to deal with as his wife.
Sneed also runs the Menendez brothers’ official Facebook page, which serves as a network of support for victims of abuse and offers updates on their cases.

Menendez married Sneed in November 2003, according to NBC News. Sources claim the couple married in a ceremony at Mule Creek State Prison outside Sacramento, in front of around a dozen friends and relatives in a high-security visiting area.
Following their wedding, the newlyweds were not permitted to have conjugal visits, which are prohibited under California law for people condemned to life without parole. However, in January 2017, Menendez told ABC News that they developed ways to keep their marriage “healthy” while incarcerated.

Lyle Menendez stated that he realized he could have a healthy marriage despite its complexities. He mentioned that it is built around conversation, finding creative ways to communicate, and sharing, even without the typical aspects of marriage, such as going out to dinner and having ample intimate time together.
Following Sneed’s separation announcement, a source told PEOPLE that while Sneed and Menendez “have been broken up for a while,” she still runs his social media profiles.
According to the source, Lyle Menendez is now linked with 21-year-old Milly Bucksey, a college student from Manchester, England. She wrote to him in prison and has “only visited him once in jail.”

Rebecca Sneed underlined on Facebook that Lyle and Erik Menendez are genuine persons who have experienced abuse from birth. She wanted to remind everyone that they are more than simply characters in a story. She added that they are people who have overcome big hurdles in their lives.
