Over the weekend, former President Donald Trump launched a couple of verbal and written attacks on people. His main focus was former Rep. Liz Cheney. The former Wyoming lawmaker is against Trump for his unconstitutional actions during the Capitol riot of January 6th, 2021.
Since Cheney became a vocal critic of Trump, he has hit back at her several times. He also publicly supported her opposing candidate, Harriet Hageman, which led to Cheney losing her re-election in 2022.
Therefore, there is a lot of tension between them. Sunday, March 17th, was their latest public dispute, as Cheney accused Trump of being “afraid of the truth.” It all started when the former president targeted the former representative, claiming that the House committee that investigated the Capitol riot sat on evidence related to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection.
In a Truth Social post, he said, “She should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!” However, Cheney was quick to respond to his accusations. Later that same day, she responded on X (formerly Twitter), saying that his attorneys had all the evidence the committee compiled.

She also mentioned that they were only trying to delay the criminal trials that Trump will face. On record, no one has charged Trump with inciting the Capitol riot. However, he is facing federal charges accusing him of trying to steal the 2020 election from President Joe Biden.
“Hi Donald: you know these are lies,” Cheney wrote. “You have had all the grand jury & J6 transcripts for many months. You’re trying to halt your 1/6 trial because your VP, WH counsel, WH aides, campaign & DOJ officials, etc, will testify against you. You’re afraid of the truth, and you should be.”
Not long after this, Trump wrote again on a Truth Social post, “SHE SHOULD BE PROSECUTED FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE TO OUR COUNTRY!” Cheney responded again on X. She wrote, “Lying in all caps doesn’t make it true, Donald. You know you and your lawyers have long had the evidence.”

One look at Cheney’s X profile shows how much of a critic of Trump she is. In her response posts, many people supported her and told her to remain strong in her opinion. However, Trump supporters strongly oppose her.
One user wrote, “Lying while serving on the J6 committee should be considered treason. You know you and Adam destroyed evidence.” In addition, another user wrote, “You pathetic loser. Get out of politics find your soul. How embarrassing.”

On the other hand, Cheney appears to be unbothered by these comments. She continues to make regular posts, and others are attacking Trump on her page.
Most recently, she posted, “Is it just a coincidence that Donald Trump took over the RNC, fired most of its Republican staff, and installed his daughter-law as co-chair at the same time he’s become desperate for money and can’t post bond? Donors better beware.” This was in response to the probability of Trump losing some of his assets thanks to his multiple court cases.
