In a recent development, a lawsuit was filed against an American airline over allegations of racism. According to the lawsuit, the airline had asked all its black passengers to exit the plane after a crew member complained of body order. The victims of the action were a total of eight passengers, who are now suing the airline.

The incident occurred in January 2023 at the Phoenix Airport tarmac. The flight, which was scheduled to land in New York, was delayed following the incident. The incident occurred after a flight attendant, described as a “white male,” began complaining about an intense body odor coming from inside the place.

Shortly after the complaint was filed, all eight individuals were asked to exit the plane. These men had no prior contact with each other or where they sat together. After they were ejected from the plane, the airline staff tried to help them get on another flight.

However, when the attempt was unsuccessful, they were ushered back into their seats. According to the court file, the flight has been identified as Flight 832.After the incident, three of the victims decided to file a racial discrimination lawsuit against the airline.

The three individuals issued a joint statement on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The three individuals have been identified as Alvin Jackson, Emmanuel Jean Joseph, and Xavier Veal.

American Airlines racially profiled them, an experience that left them feeling insulted and embarrassed. In response to the statement, the airline, which is based in Texas, said they were investigating the allegations, which they termed serious. They further claimed that such behavior was against what the company stands for.

The Consumer Rights Center filed the federal lawsuit on their behalf. The agency claims that it noticed the discrimination after all the black men were asked to leave the place. According to the report, the individual traveled from Los Angeles to New York via connecting flights.

The men said the reason they were subjected to such humiliation was a result of their skin color. They could only board the aircraft after the airline personnel were unable to rebook them on alternate flights. The pilot had announced to the passengers that the delay was because of a body odor issue. Regarding the allegation, the three individuals dispute it.

Huhta filed the complaint in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York on behalf of the three clients. Huhta said that figuring out a reason for that other than the color of their skin is very impossible. Especially because they didn’t know each other and weren’t seated close to each other, she continued.

Although American Airlines has not yet explained the men’s ejection from the aircraft, they have informed everyone that they take complaints of discrimination extremely seriously. They went on to say that when consumers choose to travel with them, they want them to have a great experience.
