After three years of hosting E! Live from the Red Carpet, Laverne Cox has announced that she will not return for a fourth year. On Thursday, January 2, 2025, Cox took to her Instagram page to announce her departure from the channel. Her post, which contained a long caption, detailed the reason behind her unexpected resignation.
According to Cox, she is leaving E! Live to feature in a new comedy series called “Clean Slate.” Cox’s announcement comes days before the 2025 awards season officially kicks off on Sunday, January 5, 2025, with the Golden Globes in Los Angeles.
Consequently, Cox will not be available to cover the red carpet for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 5, 2025. In her place, comedian Heather McMahan and Zuri Hall of Access Hollywood will host the red-carpet event, which starts at 6 p.m. ET.

Addressing her departure and future endeavors, Cox said, “I’m so excited to keep growing, evolving, and exploring great opportunities as an actress, artist, host, and speaker.
