Following the announcement of Kamala Harris as the presumptive Democratic nominee, MSNBC host Joy Reid has commented. Reid said it would look “very strange” if black people refused to vote for Harris in the November 5, 2024, presidential election.
Joy Reid Statement
On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Reid posted a 6-minute video to her TikTok account voicing her opinion of the situation. Reid said that with Kamala Harris’s rapid rise in the presidential race, it would be odd if any person of color or connected to the culture was still on the other side. Reid said they were going to look odd and be isolated on that side. Additionally, Reid believed it would be odd for a black person not to support Harris as the first potential female president.
She continued by restarting her feud with Amber Rose after already criticizing Rose for speaking at the Republican National Convention. Reid said, “The door needs to close behind Rose, and she looked crazy over there. But shut the door behind her.”
Amber Rose Replies
Following Rose’s speech at the RNC, Reid said, “She’s racially ambiguous. I don’t want to say she’s black because she has said she’s not, so I don’t want to say this about this black woman.” Reid also claimed that the RNC brought in some who made their careers using black culture but claimed to be of a different race.

She said the fact that Republicans attempted to use Rose to attract young people of color to Donald Trump was not going to work. Reacting to Reid’s video, Rose said that she has never claimed that she wasn’t black; she only claims to be biracial. Rose said that she was going to deny her white father to make Reid feel better. Subsequently, Rose told Reid to stop being a race baiter because her president does enough for everybody.”
Kamala Harris Endorsement
On Monday, July 22, 2024, Harris became the front-runner for the 2024 Democratic nomination after President Joe Biden endorsed her. Taking to X on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Harris wrote that she was proud to have earned the support needed to be the Democrat’s nominee.
Following Biden’s announcement of his rejection of the Democratic nomination, he formally declared that he endorsed Harris. Biden claimed that Harris was the most suitable candidate for rival Republican nominee Donald Trump.
In his X post, Biden wrote, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided to devote all of my resources to my obligations as President for the duration of my term and not accept my candidacy. As the 2020 party nominee, Kamala Harris was my first choice for vice president. It has been the wisest choice I have ever made. Today, I would like to extend my complete backing and recommendation for Kamala to be this year’s party nominee. It is time for Democrats to unite and defeat Trump. Now let us get started.”
