“Melina and I became close friends, and I did not have a physical relationship with her while filming the movie ‘Socked in for Christmas.’ These rumors are false. Our bond was based on shared experiences and an understanding of the challenges we were both facing in our personal lives,” Joey Lawrence’s since-deleted statement on Instagram read.

He admitted his relationship with Cope was “deeply troubled” and even confessed he felt it was beyond saving. “My short-lived marriage was fraught with difficulties from the beginning. Our differences became insurmountable,” he added.
Alves herself has denied it, too, claiming their troubled marriages drew them closer but that nothing romantic ever transpired between them. Cope’s disappointment and sadness at what happened was evident, and everyone thought it was a wrap. How wrong they were.

Joey Lawrence’s wife either forgives him for cheating on her or decides to treat the rumors simply as rumors. On December 1, she signed an entry of dismissal, and a dismissal was filed by the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles.
On December 4, Lawrence and his wife took to Instagram with photos of them at the premiere of the film “Marry Christmas.” “I am beyond grateful, I am beyond blessed, I am galaxies beyond thankful. My heart is so full,” Lawrence’s caption read. It left his fans confused and many took to the comments section demanding an explanation.
On December 12, Lawrence posted a picture of him and Cope on a flight, and his caption was all the explanation fans needed. “[Love] for life,” he posted on the pic, adding a heart and the hashtag “#myrideordie.” Cope also reshared the post on her own Instagram Stories with a stamp of lips.

Rumors of Joey Lawrence cheating on his wife started to spread after they announced their split. After Lawrence released a statement denying allegations of cheating with Alves, Cope also broke her silence on the matter.
“As a mother who values her daughter above all else, I find these false accusations deeply troubling,” Cope’s statement read. “I am confident that the truth is known to me, to Joey, and to God.”
