James Kennedy, a DJ and veteran cast member of Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules,” has been detained. This occurred on Tuesday, December 10, in Burbank, on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence.
Authorities apprehended the 32-year-old reality TV personality after arriving at a nearby home at 11:30 p.m. A Burbank Police Department representative confirmed that this occurred after responding to a complaint concerning an incident between a man and a woman.
Authorities arrested Kennedy on accusations of misdemeanor domestic violence. However, he was released after posting a $20,000 bond, according to TMZ, which initially reported the incident. The Burbank City Attorney’s Office is currently investigating the charges.

Kennedy has been in a long-term relationship with fellow “Pump Rules” cast member Ally Lewber, but the victim was not identified. On that Tuesday night in Los Angeles, the couple attended Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party collaboration with DirecTV, “Christmas at Kathy’s.” While details surrounding the arrest are sparse, here’s all we know.
What Happened to James Kennedy?
James Kennedy joined Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules” lineup in Season 4, following guest and recurring appearances in Seasons 2 and 3. He began his career as a busboy at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR and has since become a well-known DJ. Kennedy was notorious for his excesses throughout “Vanderpump Rules.”
In the ninth season of the show, Kennedy proposed to his then-girlfriend Rachel Leviss on camera. Kennedy and Leviss had a turbulent relationship and split up after Season 9. Questions regarding Kennedy’s behavior toward his ex-girlfriend Kristen Doute — a former “Vanderpump Rules” star, circulated on Bravo earlier this year.

Watchers believed Doute had written about him without naming him in her 2020 book “He’s Making You Crazy: How to Get the Guy, Get Even, and Get Over It.” In the book, Doute described a verbally abusive relationship.
In their “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast in early 2024, Bravo stars Tamra Judge and Teddi Mellencamp referred to a fight Kennedy and Lewber had in front of them in a limousine. They allegedly got physical, but neither supplied specifics about what they observed.
When Did James Kennedy Leave Vanderpump Rules?
James Kennedy left Vanderpump Rules in December 2024 after the announcement that the show’s core cast would be replaced. After reaching rating highs during the show’s tenth season in 2023 following the cheating scandal known as the “Scandoval,” and being nominated for two Emmys, “Vanderpump Rules” encountered unsustainable challenges.
This was as the group gathered to film Season 11 in the summer of 2023. Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval, who had split up when Madix discovered his romance with another cast member, Rachel Leviss, were mainly unable to film together because Madix loathed Sandoval.
She established a firm line between them, which was beneficial for her. However, it was impractical for “Vanderpump Rules,” which required the ensemble to work together.

Sandoval, on the other hand, shattered any hope of redemption by not apologizing at all, justifying his actions at every turn, and also by giving disastrous interviews after the show premiered, first on Nick Viall’s “Viall Files” podcast and then to the New York Times Magazine.
The new cast of “Vanderpump Rules” will consist of employees from Lisa Vanderpump’s current restaurants. This is similar to how the original program began in 2013 as a branch of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
According to Bravo’s public release, “Under Lisa Vanderpump’s watchful eye, the West Hollywood mainstay SUR — and now TomTom — welcomes the next batch of servers, hosts and bartenders rife with plenty of drama, situationships, and frenemies.” The new season of the show will start production next year and the cast will be confirmed at a later date.
