Fans of DCU finally have their answer to the question of who will reprise the role of Wonder Woman. Before now, all they had to go on were rumors and speculations.
However, the head of the DCU, James Gunn, has provided what seems like an answer. So, they are now waiting to see if he will make a good choice.
Gunn’s answer came as a reply to a Twitter post. However, it was a short one, and it leaves room for a lot of Speculation as well.
Wonder Woman is a beloved comic figure. Her identity has been reflected for years in comic books as the ideal representation of a female superhero. She first appeared on the big screen in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

In the following year, Gal Gadot became the face of Wonder Woman. It became the DCEU’s first female-led superhero film and the first female-led superhero film in general for over ten years. Fans warmly welcomed the movie, which grossed over $824 million at the box office.
It left many looking forward to more from the Wonder Woman franchise and DC with the critical task of not disappointing them. Now, a reply from James Gunn to one curious netizen’s tweet has provided more clues as to what is happening.
The user asked Gunn if Wonder Woman would appear in the upcoming DCU project “Creature Commandos” and if there was someone in mind for the role.
Gunn, who has mostly maintained radio silence about his plans for the character, responded with one word—“correct.” This confirmed what many speculated. Wonder Woman will have a different face after the DCU makeover.
Still, the curt reply leaves room for speculation and the possibility that Gadot could reprise the role. Gunn did not directly confirm another actress would take up the role. However, given how things have been going in the DCU, it won’t be shocking to see a recast.
When the DCEU all but fell following a long, dramatic saga, Warner Bros took a step that stunned many but turned out logical. James Gunn was given authority as the new head to rebrand the DCEU, paving the way for a transition from DC comics to the silver screen.

The title DCEU has become the DCU, and there have been sweeping changes. While Gunn kept some actors from the DCEU he felt were too valuable to pass up, like Viola Davis as “Amanda Waller,” he discarded others, like Henry Cavill’s Superman, in favor of fresh faces.
This is why many fans of the DCU speculated that Gadot would not reprise her role as Wonder Woman. However, nothing was certain until Gunn cleared the air.
His confirmation that there may be a recast of the female superhero has put him under a decent amount of pressure because he is one of those who will handpick her new face.
Fortunately, many believe he will make an excellent choice given his history with the successful “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise and his faithful adaptation of the “Suicide Squad.”

Both projects prove Gunn truly respects the characters’ comic roots, and this is expected to be reflected in his decision. Still, only time will tell how the DCU fans will respond to it.
