Here Are the Top Ten Best Netflix Movies of 2024

The list below contains the top ten best Netflix movies of 2024, arranged from the lowest to the highest.

10. Rez Ball

Rotten Tomatoes scores this movie, which was co-written with “Reservation Dogs” co-creator Sterlin Harjo and based on the nonfiction novel “Canyon Dreams,” a strong 94%. It follows one season of basketball with the Chuska High School Warriors, a Navajo Reservation basketball team that won the state championship in New Mexico.

LeBron James played a significant role in the movie’s production and it resonated in the hearts of many.

9. Hit Man

Rotten Tomatoes scored this a 95%. According to the synopsis on Netflix, the movie follows a mild-mannered professor who poses as a fake hitman in what The Washington Post has called “a blast of pure pleasure and one of the year’s best films.”

One of the things that makes this movie truly special is the confluence of thoughts on its performance. Unlike many other movies, the critics and the audience seem to be on the same page, lauding “Hit Man” for being a great movie.

8. Black Barbie

With a score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, “Black Barbie” has been described as a  “must-see,” “magnificent,” and “simply spectacular” documentary on the “first Black Barbie.” “Black Barbie” educates viewers on a world many believe was historically made for whites.

The movie leaves viewers, especially those of color, with the pride that some Black women (and their activism) played a big role in changing the narrative. And by so doing, created a legacy of dolls with beautiful lips, fuller hips, and shades, all reflective of the spectrum of brown and black that make black culture unique.

7. Rebel Ridge

“Rebel Ridge” also scored a high 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, like “Black Barbie,” but they are about two very different worlds. The film follows former marine Terry, played by Aaron Pierre, who is on his way to get his cousin Mike (CJ LeBlanc) out of jail when some cops pull him over and unjustly confiscate the bail money he planned on using.

It left him no choice but to fight back, resulting in what critics have called a “propulsive, cathartic action thriller.”

6. The Remarkable Life of Ibelin

This movie is rated as one of the best Netflix movies of 2024 on Rotten Tomatoes, scoring 97%. It follows the story of a beloved World of Warcraft player who dies, causing his guild members to reach out to his parents and reveal the life he kept hidden from them.

5. The Greatest Night in Pop

This movie fell just 2% shy of the 100% mark on Rotten Tomatoes. The documentary focuses on the night the “We Are the World” track was recorded. It was a star-studded affair that saw many music stars introduced to their idols and many egos tested.

However, in the end, history was made, and the movie tells a side of the story only the celebs have been privy to for years.

4. His Three Daughters

“His Three Daughters” falls into the top ten category of the best Netflix movies of 2024 with its Rotten Tomatoes score of 98%. The story centers on the lives of three estranged sisters who reunite at their dying father’s New York City apartment and have to get along. Critics have given the drama rave reviews, and it is quite popular among Netflix fans for its dry humor and raw honesty.

3. Will & Harper

This Netflix gem scored a whopping 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. It follows the lives of Will Ferrell and his good friend Harper, who comes out as a trans woman. After the coming out, the pair take a road trip to bond and reintroduce Harper to the country as her “true self.”

The movie risked getting brushed aside as “woke BS.” However, it has somehow managed to endear itself to the consuming public, most of whom have given it great reviews.

2. Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhaka Sherpa

Critics on Rotten Tomatoes scored this gripping documentary 100%, and for good reason. It features bone-chilling winds, a struggle to keep breathing, and life-threatening avalanches. All of these factors made Lhakpa Sherpa’s journey to the summit of Mount Everest a challenge worthy of immortalization as a tale.

1. Daughters

Like “Moutain Queen,” this movie documentary also had a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The documentary, which is already an award-winner, follows a group of girls reuniting with their dads. It paints “an admirable, ennobling picture,” according to Vulture. The emotions the picture evokes within the viewer are precisely why “Daughters” emerged as number one among the best Netflix movies of 2024.
