To celebrate the posthumous and 81st birthday of Christine McVie at a special event, Harry Styles and Stevie Nicks teamed up to perform a tribute to the late star. McVie was a former band member at Fleetwood Mac and a friend of Nicks.
In November 2022, following a brief illness, singer-songwriter McVie passed away at the age of 79. McVie was the person behind some of Fleetwood Mac’s biggest hits. Friday, July 12, 2024, would have been McVie’s second post-humorous birthday. However, Nicks decided to honor McVie during her performance in London. Nicks had invited Harry Styles during her Hyde Park performance on July 12, 2024.

Consequently, Nicks and Styles performed a moving rendition of the Fleetwood Mac hit “Landslide” as well as “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” A video was posted showing where Nicks told the audience that McVie was a big Styles fan. The video has since gone viral on multiple social media platforms.
Nicks continued that McVie was full of love and that she loved everyone, and July 12, 2024, would have been her 81st birthday. Additionally, Nicks stated that it took her a long time to be about to try and face the tragedy of McVie’s death.

Nicks told the Hyde Park audience that when she was little and injured herself, her mom would tell her to run to the stage. Subsequently, after hearing the news of McVie’s death, Nicks said all she has been doing is running to the stage. Nicks stated that fans have been their biggest source of therapy.

However, this is now the first time Styles and Nicks will be performing together. In 2017, Styles and Nicks made a duet rendition of the song “Landslide” at his concert at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. The song was released as a part of Style’s self-named album, yeah.
Additionally, in 2019, the duo reunited to sing at Nick’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction, performing “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.”. In an interview with Apple Music, Nicks described Styles as a son and brother who would have been the best friend in another life. Nicks stated that she and Styles were very close, calling him a don she never had.
Styles described Nicks as all a person could ask for in a friend, lover, or girlfriend. In interviews, Nicks has raved about him, describing him as her love child with bandmate Fleetwood. After covering “The Chain” each night of his debut solo tour in favor of a record that sounds more like Crosby, Stills, and Nash than anything he released with his previous band, Styles received her official seal of approval.

They originally met in 2015, when the Styles came to a Fleetwood Mac performance. It was at this event that Styles gave Nicks a carrot cake in celebration of her birthday. Styles originally met Mick Fleetwood after taking Fleetwood’s daughter backstage after a One Direction show.
