Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s baby’s arrival makes it the first time the unlikely celebrity will have a taste of motherhood, and she is over the moon. The former jailbird welcomed the child, a baby girl, with boyfriend Ken Urker.
Urker is just as overjoyed as Blanchard. He announced the arrival on Instagram with a heartwarming shot of himself posing with Blanchard and their baby girl. “Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all,” he captioned the post.
In the image, Urker stood next to Blanchard, who was in prison for eight years thanks to the part she played in the murder of her allegedly abusive mother. Meanwhile, the instrument of her revenge. The man who carried out the murder because of the love he had for her remains in prison and will likely spend his life there.
Not that Blanchard could care any less. She has admitted what they did was a mistake and that they now had to serve their sentences to atone for it. She is now more focused on being a better mom and a great partner to the smitten Urker.

The public first received news of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s baby when she announced she was pregnant in a July 9 YouTube video titled “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far.” At the time, she also shared images from a photoshoot with Urker on her Instagram page. Some were happy for her, and some were not.
“This was not planned at all. This was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood,” Blanchard claimed in her video, which she also shared on TikTok.
Blanchard also addressed concerns about her ability to adequately parent a child, given what happened to her own mother. “I know that there are going to be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother,” she said. To that, she said, “I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to be a mother. I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.”
The sex of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s baby was revealed on August 10 via a short video. “The moment y’all have been waiting for… It’s a girl!” Blanchard captioned the footage. “Ken and I are over the moon and are so excited to start our family.”
Later the same month, she showed off her growing baby bump in an Instagram picture that captured her wearing a white crop top with green shorts.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s baby is named Aurora Raina Urker. In an interview with PEOPLE last year, she revealed that Urker came up with the name. “Back whenever Ken and I were together seven years ago, both of us have a fascination with the Northern Lights, and the proper term is the Aurora Borealis,” she said.
“I think it was maybe in 2018. We wrote each other’s future kid’s name on pieces of paper and Aurora is what we both picked without even knowing each other was picking it.” Blanchard, 33, was released from prison in December 2023 for her involvement in her mother’s death.
She served eight-and-a-half years of a 10-year sentence for second-degree murder after plotting with then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to kill Clauddine “DeeDee” Blanchard in 2015.

It is believed that Ken Urker fathered Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s baby. Blanchard confirmed Urker as the father in a “Good Morning America interview.” She has also shared the results of a pre-birth paternity test on Instagram, with the caption, “KEN IS THE FATHER!”
