One of the nation’s most important lawyers has revealed former President Trump’s game plan regarding the series of election interference litigations. The former Mueller prosecutor Andrew Weismann has engaged with the press on what he believes are Trump’s secret plans.
The top lawyer told the news that Trump is doing everything he can to delay his federal criminal cases. Weismann also gave insight on “why?”
According to the Princeton and Columbia University trained attorney, Trump wants to delay the cases for two reasons. Firstly, so he can dismiss them if he gets into the Oval Office.
If Trump wins the 2024 presidential election, he will likely attempt to halt and terminate any further prosecution of the cases against him. The President can, to a large extent, influence the cases the government can pursue.
Secondly, Weismann alleges that Trump is scared of the damage the trials could do to his campaign. As the trial progresses, more damning verdicts may come to light which could make him lose the support of many of his supporters. Trump doesn’t want that.

The former prosecutor made these known during an interview he had on MSNBC on Monday, January 22, 2024. He was speaking with one of the news company’s political analysts, Michael Steele.
“I think one of the reasons that Donald Trump is so desperately trying to put all of these trials off is because you cannot be sure that two-thirds is so solid,” Weissmann said.
Weismann spoke about the two-thirds or 66% of Republicans who polls show are standing with the former President. The 2021 polls stated that most Republicans wanted to see Trump run for the highest office in 2021.
This amount of support is a major backbone of Trump’s renewed ambition to get into the White House again. For Democrats, it was a shocking revelation given how much battering the New York billionaire’s image has taken over the past half a decade.

“Right now, Donald Trump doesn’t want to have his day in court, doesn’t want to have to deal with facts in court,” Weismann said.
Weismann further suggested that Trump’s evasion, delay tactics, and court behavior are wrapped around these fears. These include attacks on judges and prosecutors and the very foundation of the case. “He wants to deal with spin and say this is a witch hunt, and this is all bogus,” Weissmann stated.
Weismann believes that the cases against the President can change the minds of his followers and alter the course of his campaign. Trump has enjoyed and maintained strings of success and popularity amongst Republican voters. Damning revelations from the trial could leave a dent in his growing acceptance.

Weismann concedes that the trial wouldn’t change the minds of “everyone” of Trump’s supporters. But “enough people who think, ‘You know what, I’m actually being confronted with facts.'”
According to Weismann, one factor that could upturn Trump’s massive support is the testimony of his former allies. Several of Trump’s former associates are already waiting in line to give evidence against their former boss.
However, everyone will have to cross their fingers to determine how much it will affect Trump’s chances in the elections.
