It is official! After 14 years of waiting, another blockbuster movie from the popular horror genre “Final Destination” is back. The latest is “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” and it is more disturbing than ever.
Since the trailer was finally released, it has sparked different reactions from fans worldwide, leaving their hearts pounding as they await its release in theaters on May 16, 2025. So far, there are six “Final Destination” films in its franchise, with ten novels and two comic books.
The idea behind all of its films is focused on a small group of people who manage to escape death after one of them has a sudden premonition and warns them about a major disaster that is about to happen. After escaping the predicted deaths seen in the vision, those who survived are later killed one by one in strange accidents caused by a supernatural personified force of Death.
“Final Destination: Bloodlines” Fan Reactions
As “Final Destination: Bloodlines” brings the franchise back to the theaters in May, many fans are excited to experience all the adrenaline it brings. Some fans have experienced a bit of tension while watching the trailer, but for some, it sparked mixed feelings. For some, the highlight is the return of legendary actor Tony Todd, who plays the mysterious “Devil” in the franchise.
According to some fans on X (formerly Twitter), the trailer didn’t offer anything new, and the makers had shown the entire plot in it—“They showed too much in the trailer; it feels like I just watched the whole movie.” However, some fans appreciated the trailer and said that they were excited and looking forward to revisiting their teen nostalgia.
One user commented, “This trailer already has me side-eyeing every ceiling fan and blender in my house. So hyped for May 16—Final Destination never fails to make the mundane terrifying!”
Another user reacted, “Would have liked it better if it was a sequel to the original series featuring those that managed to survive — as if, nope, death never gave up; it just waited a bit longer.” A third user said, “They are making a new final destination to traumatize the new generation.”
“Final Destination: Bloodlines” Plot Details
The newest chapter in the popular series is said to “take audiences back to the very beginning.” According to the viral trailer released, “Final Destination: Bloodlines” is about a teenage girl who experiences recurring nightmares of a tower collapse in the 1960s. She later learns that these nightmares are a premonition she inherited from her grandmother.
Her grandmother predicted the collapse of the building and prevented a group of people from dying. Decades later, the granddaughter starts to have visions of her family members dying, and she realizes that there is a sequence and that she must fight in order to prevent Death from reclaiming her family’s bloodline.
The trailer teases some of the horrors to come, with buses, shattered glass, pianos, and lawnmowers proving deadly. It also promises to take longtime “Final Destination” fans back to “Death’s twisted sense of justice” as it shows flashbacks of Death’s early havoc.
Tony Todd’s Role in “Final Destination: Bloodlines“
Tony Todd, a legend in the world of horror and beyond, known for his distinctly deep and gravelly voice, sadly passed away in his home in Los Angeles in November last year at the age of 69. The brilliant actor amassed over 240 film and TV credits throughout his four-decade career.
Some of his notable credits include “Platoon,” “Candyman,” “The Rock,” “Wishmaster,” “The Crow,” “Hatchet,” and a long list of other iconic roles. Before his death, he was said to have been in rough shape while filming, but he persevered to play his famous role again as the mysterious mortician William Bludworth.
Todd played William Bludworth in the newest series, and he is considered the main antagonist of the “Final Destination” film series. Todd has appeared throughout the series, from the original “Final Destination” to “Final Destination: Bloodlines.” His role suggests that there’s a possible connection between Bloodlines and the very first chapter of the “Final Destination” series.
