Ellen DeGeneres looks rather busy between celebrating her wedding anniversary and filming her Netflix comedy special. After tying the knot in 2008, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are celebrating their 16th wedding anniversary.

However, DeGeneres has announced that she will mark the anniversary by filming her upcoming comedy special. On Friday, August 16, 2024, DeGeneres took to Instagram to share a picture of herself and her wife, de Rossi. The Instagram post comes after DeGeneres’ standup comedy tour, which she began in June 2024.

Captioning the picture, DeGeneres wrote, “I will be celebrating my 16th wedding anniversary on the 16th of August in Minneapolis filming my final Netflix special. What a day!!! I’m so lucky to be loved by the most amazing person I’ve ever met. I love you, Portia. You’re my everything.”

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi met for the first time in 2001, at the backstage of a Rock the Vote concert. However, back in 2001, when they initially met, de Rossi had yet to identify as a lesbian publicly. However, in 2021, de Rossi admitted that she felt an instant connection to DeGeneres.

According to de Rossi, the reason behind her delay was that at the time they met, she was on the TV series “Ally McBeal” and was a closet lesbian. De Rossi said that she was so fearful about her career that she wasn’t about to date the most famous lesbian in the world.

Subsequently, in 2004, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi met for the second time during a photo shoot. However, at the time, DeGeneres and de Rossi were in a serious and committed relationship, although they admitted that the connection was still present.
