On their first wedding anniversary, “DWTS” couple Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson exchanged emotional tributes in celebration of their love.
“DWTS” contestants Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson tied the knot in April 2019, following their meeting in the 20th episode of the dance competition show.
The wedding took place in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, with family, friends, and acquaintances present to witness the grand celebration of love.
Remarkably, Val and Johnson’s love only grew stronger one year into their marriage. To mark their first wedding anniversary, the couple took to Instagram to express their undying love for each other.
Val opened the emotional outpouring with an adorable photo of them eating cake in bed. He accompanied the picture with a lengthy caption, declaring his love for his bride and how grateful he was to have her. He continued:
“What a privilege I’ve been given. You’re God’s gift that keeps giving. I Love you more than I love words that rhyme, more than music, more than rhyme.”
Going further, the Ukrainian dancer stressed how much his wife inspired him and how she brought “something powerful” out of him. Val concluded his post with a promise to love Johnson for eternity.
The pic showed the 34-year-old shirtless as he held on to the cake while his wife snuggled up beside him, dressed in her wedding gown. The duo looked happy together as they munched the delicious treat.
Jenna Johnson also poured out loving words to Val Chmerkovskiy via Instagram. Alongside a series of photos from their wedding, the star reminisced on their one-year journey as a couple.
She also expressed her regrets over having to spend the big day indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic. She, however, noted that despite not sharing the moment with family and friends, she was eternally grateful to have her husband next to her.
Johnson thanked her husband for gifting her with the best year yet, referring to their one year in marital bliss. She concluded the post with a remark on how much she loved being Val’s wife.
Their anniversary tributes further proved their undying love for each other, which thankfully had the approval of family.
Earlier this year, Val’s brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, opened up about his friendship with Johnson, whom he has come to see as a “sister.”
He also dished on how their relationship had progressed since their awkward first meeting at a dance rehearsal for “Dancing With The Stars.”
Although the two started on a not-so-pleasant note, becoming in-laws eventually made them more receptive to each other. Knowing Johnson was the right fit for his brother solidified their friendship and family bond for good.
