Dave Portnoy, the Barstool Sports founder and owner, recently donated $277k to a shelter that saved his pit bull. 6-year-old Miss Peaches was a rescued dog by the LifeLine Animal Project organization. Luckily for her, Portnoy took a liking to the dog and adopted her.
Portnoy told host Stuart Varney on “Varney & Co” in an interview that Miss Peaches was in a “hoarding situation.” She was also highly neglected and used for breeding when Lifeline rescued her.
Now, Miss Peaches lives a life of luxury, enjoying her new home. She has moved from “outhouse to penthouse,” and Portnoy is obsessed with his new dog. However, his act of kindness didn’t stop at adopting Miss Peaches.
The American businessman announced on Instagram that he donated $277k to the Lifeline Animal Project. The funds came from proceeds from sales of the “Adopt Don’t Shop” apparel featuring Miss Peaches’ likeness that Barstool unveiled after he took Miss Peaches home.

A representative of Lifeline Animal Project also spoke to FOX Business concerning the hefty gift. According to them, it was a “significant gift.” “This year, we need to raise $6MM in charitable contributions to sustain the organization’s operations, so this gift obviously helps.”
Those at LifeLine not only care for the animals or find homes for them, but they also support the community to reduce the number of strays or animals in need of rescuing.
In their own words, LifeLine “not only cares and finds homes for animals living in LifeLine’s county shelters but also supports the community and prevents pets from entering the shelters in the first place.”
They have branches in both Fulton and DeKalb Counties. They also help provide free pet care for people who cannot afford it. Therefore, a donation like this helps thousands of animals.

“Donations help us provide free pet care for people who may not be able to afford unexpected veterinary emergencies. Funds also help us operate a private shelter that pulls animals from our overcrowded county shelters to give more animals a second chance,” LifeLine also told FOX Business.
“Last year alone, we were able to help over 43,000 animals in our shelters, community, and clinics and couldn’t have done that without gifts like these.”
In addition, the social media personality announced that Miss Peaches hoodie and T-shirt proceeds would continue to go to animal hospitals and charities. She has amassed a huge following on social media, and people can’t seem to get enough of the cute pitbull.

Therefore, Portnoy capitalized on this and sold merch with her face on it. In her own little way, Miss Peaches is a celebrity, too. Now, she lives happily with Portnoy, enjoying peanut butter meals and Puppuccinos from Starbucks. She’s also enjoying chewing on the TV remote and Portnoy’s wallets.
People also love watching her get a ride in his wagon. Therefore, Portnoy did an admirable thing by helping Miss Peaches and giving the organization a huge opportunity to help other animals.
